This has been a neighborhood place for me for years and I liked their food...but over the last few months, every time I order the same dish, the prices went up a couple of dollars until today when the lady/owner added another $8 to my usual order of fish, priced at $28 per whole fish, not per pound. When I asked why this $28-$30 (they have charged me $30 at times before when the owner/lady answered the phone and I just thought the extra $2 was for the extra tofu I asked to be added to this dish) dish is now $35 (she also took my order today), she said the extra charge was because she gave me a fish over 3 lbs. First, her explanation is false, because this is a braised catfish dish that is $28 per order, not per pound. Second, I am looking at the fish as I write this, and this is a small catfish, no way near 3lbs. And this reminds me of another incident years ago at this place where I took a few friends and the owner recommended a live fish, steamed and quoted the price as per pound. Our party was charged for a 2-lb fish, when what was actually served was so small, it couldn't have been more than a pound. My friends wanted to complain but I persuaded them not to because this was my neighborhood restaurant and I wanted to go back there, so I didn't want to make a fuss. But enough is enough. This is very sad for me as I think their food is fine and in times like these, I want to support my neighborhood businesses, but based on my experiences dealing with this business, I will never go back, they have crossed a line with...
Read moreThis is a tough rating. If you know what you're getting, it's great. If not, you may be disappointed. The eating area was pretty clean, although they had set dirty dishes and things on the table they sat us at and they moved them without bringing new things to set the table......little sketchy with the cleanliness there. The bathroom wasn't terribly clean either. As for the food, it took some getting used to. I have never had "real" Asian/Chinese food before, but from what I've had explained, this us what I imagine. It's not Americanized Asian food. It is more simple, a little bland, fewer ingredients than what American food has. But it's got flavor if you can learn to like it quick, or if that's your taste. The menu was tough for me. There are many choices and they are not described much. It basically just lists what it is, sometimes that is fairly self explanatory,...
Read moreTERRIBLE Service. I usually don't ever post a review on yelp, but this was so bad I had to. I went here for the first time and it will be my LAST. The waiter didn't even ask what I wanted to drink. So I ate my entire meal with NO water. He never not once asked how the food is tasting or if he can get me anything else. I had to stand up and ask for a to go box. I didn't even get an itemized receipt. So the receipt did not even reflect what I ordered. It was just a receipt with the amount. THEN THE WAITER HAD THE AUDACITY TO FINALLY COME UP TO MY TABLE AND THE FIRST THING HE DID WAS LOOK AT MY TAB TO SEE IF THERE WAS A TIP. THEN HE SAID, NO TIP?? I was like wooowwwww. just wow. This is why people think asian restaurants have terrible service everywhere, because of people like this. The food was good but not enough for me to go...
