This is one of my favorite ramen places I've been to in general. My go-to is the black garlic ramen since it has a very good and intense flavor, and the bowls and big ladle spoons it's served with are just very satisfying. In the past I've had the curry and soft shell crab as well which are good, but I find those a little more salty. I especially appreciate how the serving amount is just right–filling, but not overwhelming, the way it is at other places. The broth and quality of the noodles is very good. I've had my friends out for dinner here back in december and they enjoyed it a lot too. The area is small but cozy and the servers are very efficient. I also like that they accept Venmo as payment, it makes it very convenient for me when I'm in a hurry. For some reason I had a particular craving this past week so I went 3x and every time it was very consistent and satisfying.

The side dishes I've had here are pretty ok, if not my favorite. The ramen is clearly the strength and focus (as it should be.) Anyway, as a Richmond district resident wanted to send some local positive reviews, hope...

it's a decent ramen place in the neighborhood. I didn't notice this place before but it has been about one year, I assume. I ordered grilled squid and vegetarian shoyu ramen. and sprite. I'm not complaining about anything here but telling what I thought. I didn't like the teriyaki sauce they put on squid. I mean teriyaki sauce was okay but I didn't want teriyaki sauce for grilled squid. I should ask them to put it on side. the ramen. the ramen has a little thing I wanna say. I mean, the soup did not have any taste, nah nah nah 🎶 you would say I'm too picky. you would say I'm Asian so you like more tasty asian soup but it's not. nah nah nah 🎶 try if you think I just say this. i assume it's not like they make instant ramen in the back. it tasted like real ramen noodle and ramen, they use pork broth, soup but, how about this way, no home made secret hint. like the original ramen i can eat only this place. how about that way? i saw it could be better and with that hope, I'll try this place sometime soon and hopefully they surprise me with lots of better tasty original ramen....

I won't ever be going back here. I never write bad reviews but this place was extremely disappointing. My pork was extremely DRY like it had been sitting out all day dry and it was very over done, I didn't even eat it. The ramen noodles tasted like packaged noodles, the broth flavor was weak. I've had a lot of ramen and this is by far the worst I've ever had. They didn't bring out one of our appetizers until after our we reminded them twice and had started eating our main course dishes. Out of the four of us they brought out two bowls of ramen and the other two didn't get their ramen until about 10 minutes later. Our table ordered two specialty drinks and one person got theirs with the apps but I didn't receive mine until the ramen came out and I politely asked twice. The gyoza app was not good, it tasted old and flavorless. My friend ordered vegan broth ramen with an egg and she never got the egg. The waiter didn't communicate any issues the kitchen was having or our orders...

Kio Ramen on Balboa Street is an absolute gem in the Outer Richmond! The Pork House Ramen was nothing short of perfection—rich, savory broth with tender, flavorful pork that hit all the right notes. Pairing it with their house red wine was a surprisingly fantastic choice that elevated the meal even further. Parking was surprisingly accessible for San Francisco, which already puts this spot ahead of many others. The staff was incredibly friendly, creating an atmosphere that was both lighthearted and welcoming. It felt like the perfect cozy stop to fuel up with a homey, comforting meal before heading out to soak in the breathtaking views this area is known for. One tip though—if you’re like me, using chopsticks might turn into a fun little noodle adventure. Let’s just say the ramen was so good, even my chopsticks didn’t want to let go! Five stars, without a doubt!

One of those times that I don't want to give a good review because I don't want to not be able to have a seat whenever I want, but this place is GREAT. Don't expect to get fussed over with service, it's quick and no frills but the food is tops. The special beef ramen is one of the best bowls i have ever had. I discovered it and was back less than a week later to bring a friend and have it again! Seaweed salad was fresh and edamame is served hot. Love it!
