The Bernal Basket — Restaurant in San Francisco

I've been here a few times and really want to love this place—it has a charming vibe and super friendly staff. But overall, the baked goods haven’t quite lived up to the high bar set by places like Arizmendi in the Mission.

Bread & Focaccia:

The focaccia (tried twice) was on the dry side both times—I'd skip it. The baguettes and loaves (~$10) are good but not exceptional—at that price point.

Got the ham & cheese sandwich and a blueberry muffin. I was a bit surprised at the blueberry muffin because they used whole wheat flour, which is healthy, but there's a reason most people don't use whole wheat flour for muffins. And they have to offset that with so much sugar that it made my teeth hurt.

But the ham and cheese sandwich was awesome. The sweetness of the bread was perfectly juxtaposed with the tanginess of the cornishons and Dijon to give it just the right...

This is a really great place, I love the baked goods and the people here. It's extremely yummy and a bit decadent so exactly what you want when going out for a treat.

You can sit outside, with a heater and cover from any rain but there isn't really seating inside. They have a covered parklet and sidewalk tables and a couple heaters for cold days. This is a great way to enjoy a breakfast or lunch and what I always do even though you could go to one of the many...
