The chicken and pork were really well marinated. That was the only good thing about this place. The customer service was TERRIBLE. I'm not sure what was the waitress problem. They brought the charcoal set to our table and the waitress began to cook meat. So I thought "okay maybe they cook it for us since she started cooking it." She came back every now and then to move the meat around and flip it until about the 4th time she came around she said very rude "This is self cook", and dropped the grill tongs and left. Well if you hadn't fuc*ing started cooking our meat and kept coming back. Also while she was cooking it for us, she threw pieces on the grill and places raw chicken and raw pork touching each other!! CROSS CONTAMINATION. COMMON SENSE. So we began cooking on our own and for some reason the waitress came back, got the little raw meat that was left, put it on the grill, and took the plate. Were we being kicked out???? After 5 min she came back and got all the cooking meat and put it on our plate.. some of it still looked raw. Right behind the waitress was another worker who took away the charcoal set. I looked at my girlfriend so confused. What was going on. Prices are Stupid high as well. I get it, it's SF, but for two people a quick bite cost us over $80. Cmon. There was nothing special about this place and the customer service was certainly not $80 value. Our go to place was Camp Korean bbq. But they were closed. We...
Read morewe were extremely lazy about planning our valentine's day dinner and did NOT want to wait more than an hour for a table at the restaurants couples were fighting to get into. so later that night at 9pm, we set out and walked down geary blvd. looking for a good place to eat that did not have people spilling out the door.
we pass this restaurant everyday, and it is definitely overshadowed by brothers across the street, tofu house, and other korean restaurants in the neighborhood. that night we stopped to peek inside. only 4 tables were taken. whip out the phone for a quick yelp check. good reviews! maybe couples on their romantic valentine's day date did not want to end the night smelling strongly of grilled meat? we love the smell of grilled meat =D
it was a great meal. the only thing that we had a problem with was that we wanted to grill the meat ourselves so they set up our grill on the table. however, as the night progressed, we literally felt like our faces were about to melt off. we usually can take the heat, but this time with all the charcoal, it was too much! as politely as we could, we asked if they could take it in the kitchen and they were so nice to us about it.
the side dishes were great, the waitresses were very nice, and we got some free tofu soup. we stayed there till late that night and it was an excellent, satisfying...
Read moreGreat place for some authentic Korean food.
Pajeon : Seafood pancake. Crispy on the edge and soft in the middle. Really good. But the sauce that came with the dish was way too salty for me.
Galbi : BBQ beef short ribs. very flavorful and moist but on the chewy side. Not sure because they forgot to cut against the grain or something.
Galbi Tang : beef soup. I usually leave the meat untouched because they are just too tough in most Korean places. This place cook it to point where the beef was soft and tender. So so good.
Rice cake soup: also very good but I prefer Galbi Tang
Kimchi Pork Belly : really yummy. A little bit spicy and very addicted.
Chapjae : stir fried yam noodles. Very good
Pan fried Mackerel: on the dry side and too salty
I highly recommended the Galbi, pancake, beef soup and stir fried yam noodles...
