Got to visit Ong Ta Banh Cuon Bun Moc (banh cuon is freshly steamed rice rolls filled with grounded pork, onions, spices & chopped dried mushrooms) is located in the Vietnam Town Shopping Plaza.

Ordered to go #1 special Bánh Cuốn Đặc Biệt – which had delicate chew, juicy bits of pork and veggies giving a burst of flavor accompanied with fresh bean sprouts, mint, herbs and other sides, all meant to be dipped or drizzled in a prepared savory fish sauce (add on chili sauce and fried shallots for umami)

Taste: 4.8 / 5 stars Portion size: generous - one to go portion was enough for two

Likely the best in San Jose as I’ve been living in the NorCal area for over 35 years now and hadn’t come across a banh cuon restaurant with not only generous portions but tasty combinations of various fried grounded pork patties and steamed pork patties (cha) & nem (cured pork patties) etc - four different types total plus a deep fried sweet potato shrimp cake to top it off.

Would I visit again? Absolutely 👍

Rice Rolls

I always love seeing and trying less common regional cuisine and Little Saigon is a treasure trove of these discoveries

After an ok banh cuan cua elsewhere, I finally found this restaurant on the main drive through of Vietnam Town

There was a long wait so I just ordered to go which since freshly made took 20 minutes

I loved the banh cuon dac biet or deluxe rice roll platter as it includes their signature rice rolls served with mixed sauce and Thai chilis (spicy) but also a fried egg roll and various Vietnamese hams

The Nem Nuong roll was very good as well and a nice alternative to Brodard for the Bay Area (but missing the crunchy fried egg roll skin) with the best aspect being how they wrap in plastic to preserve the freshness after it’s made

Will have to return to try the Bun Moc or Vietnamese Pork Noodle Soup

I Came to Vietnam Town to check out Bun Rieu Cua Thanh Dinh but it was closed even though it said open on the Google site. Anyways, I Noticed that this Banh Cupn Bun Moc Ong Ta is right next door with many people eating outside seemingly popular and definitely packed so I decided to meet up with my friend here for Lunch. It was my first time eating here, although I have passed by the restaurant plenty of times. The place is always super busy, can be quite the wait but I guess it was worth it since customers can walk around, lounge out, and chat while waiting for their food. I ordered a special combination Rice Roll ( Banh Cuon) and my friend ordered the popular Bun Rieu Spicy Noodle Soup. Overall we enjoyed our food. Spicy and flavorful. The portions and prices are right. The restaurant is a bit small but it great that they offered indoor/outdoor dining. I would like to return and try the Bun Moc, Bun Rieu, or...
