UPDATE
Sadly, the quality and service have gone downhill. Still good but not exemplary. The abundant portions have been slimmed down too. Plus they’re doing something odd by also operating under the name Abuelitas Taqueria on Uber Eats. Same menu and everything This is a new hole-in-the-wall place in Willow Glen and much better than the many nearby Mexican food options. I’ve liked everything I’ve gotten here.
First time it was rainy so we got delivery. Perfect weather for pozole, which was nicely packed in separate containers for the soup and fresh veggies. Delicious with lime and tons of aromatic Mexican oregano.
I also ordered chicken enmoladas, so satisfying with its velvety mole sauce. My GF got the steak fajitas complete with the array of toppings: guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream, etc. The entrees came with a generous amount of Spanish rice and whole beans. Have I mentioned their freshly made tortillas yet? Heavenly!
Next time was dining in. We started with beer and esquites, which was unexpectedly served with chips (no salsa). Figuring they were to be used as scoops for extra corn flavor, we dug in. It arrived in a sizzling cast-iron skillet; wonderfully grilled steak, chicken, queso panela, chorizo, knob onions, jalapeños, and nopal cactus. Outrageously good.
With the rice, beans, and corn tortillas there was enough to take home for seconds. I highly recommend this very easy to overlook restaurant. They’re open all day so I might even try going...

The simple yet attractive ambience( the pathway to the bathroom needs reorganizing), the courteous service and most importantly the amazingly prepared dishes that are so “ Un Taco Bell or El Torrito “, will delight your palate and love for Mexican food. From Appetizers , Main Dish to Dessert.. it is a “ made on location.. fresh food experience”. You will be even more impressed when you see the fair value or the bill. Being small it has it’s growing pains.. but who wouldn’t want such a passionate female owner to grow her business?
