While the food is good, the customer service has me so irritated that I feel the need to share about it. I am a big customer of Thai Spice through DoorDash. I have ALWAYS asked for brown rice in the notes section when placing my lunch order, and I just get upcharged from the restaurant though the DoorDash app--no problem (I get an email notification that I have been charged a little extra for the brown vs white rice). Today, I placed my lunch order through DoorDash and forgot to note that I wanted brown rice, so I called in to specify. The guy who answered the phone argued with me saying they could not upcharge, and that the money would come out of his own pocket. He probably argued like 5 solid minutes. First of all, the restaurant CAN charge additional items, second, would it have really killed him to give me brown vs white rice this once, especially considering I am such a regular customer and was already paying $13+ for my lunch?
He said his English was not good (and no, it was not), so he said he'd get the owner for me to see if I could better communicate with her. After waiting a good amount of time, he came back and told me the owner was not there...how would he not know if she was there? It's a pretty small place. You just look across the room. Anyway, I really dislike bad customer service. He did not listen to me at all, just kept telling me I'd be taking money out of his pocket, and that he did not want that. He would not listen to me when I said that they CAN upcharge via the DoorDash app and have many times in the past (I have experienced this with many DoorDash restaurants in addition to Thai Spice). I could not cancel my order either. If these restaurants are going to use DoorDash, they should know how to use the app, so they can make sure the customer experience...
Read moreWe came to Thai Spice on a Wed night. There was no wait and 3 other people seated. They always greet us with smiles, and they are very pleasant. When reading the reviews and looking at the poor quality photos, I think they are getting a disservice. We ordered Chicken Satay and Roti (unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo, so I had to lift one off the internet). The Satay is fresh and delicious. The condiments that come with it are also very tasty. The Roti was warm and flakey. The same peanut sauce that comes with the Satay comes with the Roti. It's thick and not watered down like another reviewer stated. Our entrees were Chicken Ra-Na with Broccoli instead of spinach (the guys favorite-fresh thinly sliced chicken and broccoli perfectly cooked with a thick peanut sauce), Pumpkin Curry - Veggie - medium spicy (always delicious - super fresh and loaded with veggies. The pumpkin squash is cooked so it falls apart in your mouth) hopefully someday it will get back to being served IN the kabocha, 😊 and Spicy Spaghetti - Veggie - medium spicy (fresh and delicious - think of it as Thai tasty chow mein with lots of delicious healthy veggies and not greasy like chow mein). We ordered white rice and shallot rice. The shallot rice is cooked in the pan with the shallots, so it takes on a crispier texture and darker color. We loved our meal. We didn't appreciate the loud table next to us of two women complaining about the price of the peanut sauce and how they don't eat rice or noodles (not sure why you would come to a Thai restaurant then). But it wasn't the restaurants fault for their lack of situational awareness. We've always loved Thai Spice and have never had a bad meal there or takeout. The pandemic REALLY hurt their business, so please give them a try if you're in...
Read morei would give 4 stars for the food. it’s flavorful and priced right, and the portions are large. HOWEVER thai spice in now fully dedicated to its door dash and take out business. there are 4 or 5 pick up people standing inside at any time, and both waiters for the sit-down customers (yes, there are only two) dedicate their time to this take out side of things. seated customers go ignored for 12-13 minutes after you’ve folded your menu, and to draw their attention to you wishing to order only seems to annoy them. i’m sure the take-out is very lucrative for them. but my experience yesterday (we eat there every other week or so) was the final insult. no response from either waiter after 20 minutes, both of them on the phone, or dealing with door dash, or placing orders in bags so we left. not even an acknowledgement from them, a sorry or a hello or an explanation. all while other diners crane their heads around obviously in need of what a waiter can provide. you might think that going there 20-25 times a year for the past 5 years would warrant a different response. it makes me sad really. and i am not even sure they know what damage they are doing to...
