Bay Area Eats | Must-Try Delicious Dry Mixed Rice Noodles

Good menu selections for food and teas. Flavors are tasty, especially the BBQ Chicken and the Lemongrass Chicken. Fresh Veggie Spring Rolls are also delicious. Prices are reasonable and atmosphere tends more towards a cafeteria ambiance with lots of noise during busy hours. General theme during peak times seem to be "get 'em in; get 'em out" on table rotations. I'd rate 4-stars if it weren't for the inconsistent and less-than-friendly service. Dining is generally supposed to be a a pleasant experience. Most of the wait staff don't seem to take this to heart. Just dig deep and fake the smile if you can't find one to genuinely share. Read the similar service-related comments here from other people. Remember, your customers have plenty of other Pho restaurants nearby to choose from. Parking is plentiful, though can be challenging as the lot is shared with Costco.

A Decent Choice for Pho and Vermicelli House of Pho in South San Jose is a decent Vietnamese restaurant. One standout feature is the generous portion sizes of their dishes. For example, in their Vermicelli, I was pleasantly surprised to find two full egg rolls included in the dish, which was a great addition. However, it might have been more practical if they were cut into smaller pieces, as is more common for this dish. If you're exceptionally hungry and looking for a satisfying meal that offers great value for your money, this is a place to consider. Parking can be a bit of a challenge due to its location in a strip mall shared with Costco and Trader Joe's. But once you secure a spot, you'll be rewarded with both quality and quantity in your meal. All in all, the prices are reasonable for the portion sizes, and the food is quite tasty.

As a long-time customer of House of Pho, since 2018, I’ve always enjoyed their Vietnamese cuisine, especially when dining in. However, my recent experiences with delivery orders have left me deeply disappointed. Take, for example, the beef noodle soup I ordered via DoorDash today, June 28, 2025, it was a letdown in every way. There was so much fat and cartilage that I had to spend time separating it myself. If you check the attached photo, you’ll see exactly what I mean.

Here’s why this matters so much to me, I’m handicapped and rely heavily on delivery services like DoorDash, Uber eats for my meals. When I order, I expect the same care and quality I’d get if I were sitting in the restaurant. Sadly, this isn’t the first time I’ve noticed a drop in quality with House of Pho’s delivery orders it’s starting to feel like a pattern. I can’t help but think of other Vietnamese spots in San Jose, like Thien Long or if you can drive a short distance away Yokohama Ikei (Japanese Cuisine) where my delivery orders consistently arrive just as good as if I’d eaten there in person. Why can’t House of Pho figure this out?

I really want to keep supporting this place, I’ve been a loyal customer for years but I’m frustrated. I’m urging House of Pho to step up their quality control for delivery orders. Everyone deserves the same great experience, whether they’re dining in or getting it dropped off at their door. For someone like me, who depends on these services, it’s not just a preference it’s a necessity. Please, House of Pho, get this right or you forever have lost a customer that spends $1000+ eating out...

House of Pho at this location is one of the best in South Bay, given it's not even in the Story Rd or Tully area where Pho competition is fierce.

I order a bowl of Pho, combination and size large. In a couple of minutes I see the waiter bring out the order and I'm thinking probably he going over to the next table. Then he walks straight to my table - this is the fastest serving I ever got for a bowl of pho.

For under $12, this size large bowl is big - plenty of noodles, meat, and soup. The soup flavor is great. Note that when I say plenty or good, it's relative to other pho places - otherwise, it's too subjective from person to person. A little secret, many pho fans are not aware of the satay sauce, which you can use for dipping the pieces of meat or beef balls. Some pho places don't even offer it. Often you have to ask for it. Here, the satay sauce is very spicy and tastes great (gotta ask for it.)

This place is in a shopping center. So there's always plenty of...

“Authentic Delights at House of Phở”

Review: Situated at 5353 Almaden Expy, San Jose, CA 95118, adjacent to the bustling Costco, House of Phở consistently delivers a delightful Vietnamese culinary experience. While parking can pose a challenge due to its proximity to Costco, the overall dining experience makes it worthwhile.

House of Phở excels in simplicity, offering uncomplicated yet delicious Vietnamese cuisine. The convenient location, ample seating, and attentive customer service enhance the overall satisfaction. It’s a go-to spot for those seeking authentic Vietnamese flavors without unnecessary complexity.

Personally, I recommend the extra-large bowl of phở or bun bo hue for an exceptional treat. With a solid 10 out of 10 rating, House of Phở is a must-visit for anyone craving good Vietnamese food in Alameda. The combination of quality dishes, accessible location, and friendly service ensures that I’ll be...
