Mumu Hot Pot near Oakridge Mall delivers a sharp, modern take on communal dining without sacrificing warmth or pacing. Located on the southwest exterior of the mall next to BJ’s, the space is surprisingly spacious—seating over 200 guests—but still manages to feel intimate thanks to its sleek decor and well-zoned tables. The ordering system is intuitive, and the staff keeps things moving without hovering. Whether you’re new to hot pot or a seasoned broiler, the broth selection and ingredient quality make it easy to customize your experience without second-guessing. It’s not just about cooking your own food—it’s about curating a meal that feels earned.
Noise levels hover around moderate, which works well for casual conversation without feeling sterile. On weekends, expect a short wait—ours was under 10 minutes—but the turnover is efficient and the pacing inside never feels rushed. Pricing lands in the $30–50 range per person, which is fair given the portion sizes and ingredient quality. If you’re dining with a group, the shared experience adds value beyond the plate. Mumu doesn’t just serve food—it sets the stage for connection, decision-making, and a little bit of playful competition over who builds the best bowl.
The “Classic” broth stands out for its versatility. It’s a clear, savory base that doesn’t overpower the ingredients, making it ideal for diners who want control over seasoning or prefer to build flavor gradually. It’s often the go-to for mixed groups, especially when some guests are new to hot pot or want to experiment with dipping sauces. While Mumu offers richer options like spicy mala or tomato bone broth, the Classic remains a staple for its neutrality and balance. It supports the meal without dominating it—letting the ingredients and conversation take center stage.
In public speaking, this kind of balance is known as message framing—where the speaker sets the tone without overwhelming the audience. Mumu’s approach mirrors that: it gives you the tools, the space, and the pacing to shape your own experience. Whether you’re leading a conversation or building a bowl, the structure matters just as much...
Read moreReally solid hotpot spot with high-quality meats and a nice vibe overall--just be ready to splurge a little.
I ordered the Meat Lovers meal set and was seriously impressed with the quality. The Australian wagyu chuck eye roll had beautiful marbling, and both the Black Angus short rib and flat iron were super lean with minimal fat, which I appreciated. Definitely felt like I was getting premium cuts.
Drinks were a highlight--the matcha smoothie and grape slushy (especially with the milk foam) were so good and refreshing. Highly recommend those.
I went with the Tom Yum and Sukiyaki broth bases, but honestly found both to be lacking in flavor--probably wouldn't pick those again. The veggie platter, on the other hand, was generous and had a great variety.
Couple downsides: the broilers are smaller than I expected, so if you're doing split pots, be ready to reach across the table a lot. Also, rice refills aren't included and are $2 each, which felt a bit steep considering the overall price point. The sauce bar was poorly stocked, majority of options being low, had a messy presentation with drips all over the counter, and the hoisin sauce just tasted like it marinated in plastic for way too long and was overwhelmingly sweet.
All that said, this place is very good. I'd definitely come back, but more as a special treat than a...
Read moreWent for dinner with a group of friends and really enjoyed the quality of meats and variety of sauces and dips! Very modern decor and attentive serves. Will definitely be back for special occasions!
We ordered the Premium Japanese A5 and Premium Wagyu sets with sukiyaki, yuzu shio, tom yum, and creamy tomato sauce. All of the meats were soooo buttery and of high quality. While all of the sauces were delicious, I especially enjoyed the yuzu shio for its floral/citrusy smell and refreshing flavor, along with the creamy tomato sauce that got better as time went and became more concentrated. They also have a lot of different dips to choose from and make your own concoction. The mushroom sauce was an umami bomb and went well with everything. What I appreciated was the high quality and variety of produce that comes with the meal - yuba and napa cabbage being table favorites to wrap the meat with.
While I enjoy doing hot pot at home on a regular basis, experiencing such a high quality hot pot restaurant was very special and we look forward to...
