Worst customer service ever! If you ever order something "to go" here, make sure you are receiving what you paid for. On this past Saturday, I ordered 3 "sushi platters" to go. Sushi platters are dinner menu and cost $27 each. I placed my order on the phone and was told to pick up after 20-25 min. I got there early like within 10 min, since I wanted to pick up my food as soon as it gets ready.. because sushis... you really need to eat them FRESH especially during hot weather days like these days. I got to the restaurant, made my payment, and started waiting outside. Instead of 25 min, it actually took close to 40 minutes before my foods got ready. I really didn't mind waiting at all, however I did mind this one waitress's rude behavior. When my foods took much longer than I anticipated, I stepped into the restaurant to check the status. There, I saw my order packed up and just sitting behind the counter. So I asked the waitress in the front, "Aren't those my to go order?". Then she gives me this DIRTY look and goes, "Your foods just came out?!?! Wait!." In my mind, I was thinking "EXCUSE ME??????" but didn't say anything to her. I didn't want any confrontation. She then starts doing other stuff such as taking new customers to their tables etc. It took her almost 3-5 minutes before returning to the counter to hand me my foods. I finally got my foods, and checked my bag to make sure I got everything that I ordered. Thank GOD I did. I noticed they have prepared 3 orders of "sushi specials" which is the lunch menu. Sushi Specials are $20 per order, which is $7 cheaper than Sushi Platters, and they come with only less nigiris. I told the waitress about this, she says she can prepare the missing nigiris. After waiting 40 minutes, I told her I didn't want to wait anymore. So I requested her to just correct my charge, and refund me the difference of $21+tax. Then she said "It's only 3 more sushis.." and gave me that dirty look again then headed to the back where she talked to her manager. It took her another 5 -10 minutes to return and tell me that she would have to void the entire transaction and recharge the new correct amount. OMG!! There, I finally lost my patience and my appetite. I told her to just void everything and keep the foods. What made me most MAD was that there was not even a single apology from her. Not even a single sorry. Instead of apologizing, all she could say was "it's just 3 more sushis"???????? Wow.. She was beyond just being unprofessional and rude... As long as she works at Sanraku, I will not be returning there.. Hope the management will start training their employees right. THE WORST customer service that I ever...
Read more3/6/2023 Update: No matter how many times I ask Satoshi-san, this Sanraku location will not be bringing back Omakase 😔 However, quality of fish is still high and fresh so I still love coming for the Chirashi bowl or Sushi & Sashimi Platter / Sushi Tokujo. My friends also enjoy the cooked dishes too like unagi donburi or udon. And the service from the wait staff and chefs are consistently good and friendly. Admittedly, it's not quite the same experience as being at the bar and being individually served each nigiri and specialty dish and engaging with the chef. Good times...
A hidden gem if you love Japanese sushi. However, that's not to say the typical rolls and savory appetizers & meals are not good here. They're actually far better tasting than at any other sushi restaurants. So my hats off to both the sushi chef and the kitchen chef.
Personally, I always go for the Omakase or Sushi Tokujo AND I have to sit at the bar because you get to enjoy the genuine experience of connecting with the chef. Plus, I believe it's better paced when you receive one nigiri at a time versus all of them at once if seated at the table.
They take reservations so make it a special date night at the bar, especially on a weeknight (sadly too crowded on Friday and Saturday for my taste but Sunday's are...
Read moreIt's a really nice little corner restaurant in a less traveled section of the mall, off the main food court. Food generally was pretty good for a typical Japanese restaurant. Service could improve as each dish was brought out scattered over time and in the wrong order. For our party of four, we ordered one appetizer for the table and four main dishes total. One main came out, then 2 more about 10 minutes later, and then another after 10 more minutes, and it was another 5 minutes after we finally got our kaarage appetizer at the END of the meal, which was honestly the worst part of the food, not flavorful at all. If you want good fried chicken thigh pieces, go to Jinya, it is so much tastier! That said, it felt a bit more relaxing to eat there than any of the main restaurants, less hubbub than other places. One point in their favor, they do serve soba noodles, which my girlfriend loves and I've never seen at any other casual Japanese restaurant I've been to. I do recommend to...
