Good ramen bar with a pleasant atmosphere. The menu has only a few different varieties, but you can also customize your own with toppings. They do have vegetarian and vegan offerings, one of each, but no gluten free listed. Meats include either chicken or pork, but there is a beef add on and the special had beef.
They have a combo option to get a salad or other side with your ramen, and they also have a kid's ramen with chicken and fries on the side.
They have a few non ramen choices including tacos, salads, and other more Japanese items.
Portions are large and filling, but if it's not enough, you can get extra noodles for the broth left in your bowl.
Service is quick to sit down. The servers don't check on you, which is my ideal, because they are very responsive to being waved over.
Each table has spicy sauce, garlic jalapeno sauce, and gyoza sauce. They have two outdoor sections, one covered with heaters and the other uncovered and not heated.
I ordered the black pork ramen which came to $15.30 with tax. I'd pay about the same for a meal at nearby Olive Garden or the Cheesecake Factory, so the price feels fair for what I got. I've ordered similar ramen in Japan Town which was similar in price but higher quality and more traditional. But it's definitely good broth.
Their hot sauce is a bit milder than fresh Sriracha, and they also have a mild and spicy option with...
Read moreWhat can I say about Jinya other than its my favorite ramen place. For me, no other ramen place has matched up to Jinya until now. Jinya at San Jose has a good patio seating with a table fire and ceiling heaters. These made the seating comfortable for when we were there a few days ago on a cold California night. The food, being hot and spicy, kept the cold at bay. Spiciness, of course, is as you want it. Mild, medium, spicy, and hot. If want spicier than hot, do ask your waiter for the extra spice if it's not already there at your table. The food quantity and quality as usual was a chef's kiss. I am still lamenting about the fact that they stopped the spicy edamame. I wish they bring it back on the menu. The regular edamame, even though good, doesn't match up to the spicy edamame that they had a few years ago. Overall, you won't be disappointed with Jinya. Its always been a definite revisit for me if I'm eating at the restaurant. Take out is kind of iffy. I like the ramen hot. Take out neans cooled down food, which even upon reheating isn't that great. So I recommend eating at the restaurant, if you are...
Read moreThe restaurant has the worst service i have ever received. There were 3 severs at that time and one of the servers gave terrible service to me. I ordered extra dumpling and it didn’t come. Maybe they forgot to submit order with my ramen when ankther server took my order. That’s actually not a problem, i just wanted to check with them if the dumpling order was received. When i asked the server to check my order she didn’t say sorry and doing like just leave to kitchen. So i asked again “i ordered dum...” but i couldn’t finish my word cause she shouted to me “check the dumpling ok?! Ok?!” And when she bring the dumpling, it felt like really rude behavior. When she gave the dish, it seems like drop the dish like a giving to dog. And she will go check back to another customer but never visit our table again. Of course without apologize. She is really rude person who has long hair asian women.
