My first time. I have not been in Puerto Rico for more than 3 years so I have heard wonders.
The plantain soup is awesome. I ordered ceviche tacos... Mehhh! My friend ordered fish tacos. They were served cold and had ro be taken twice back to the kitchen. It seems that the fish nuggets were refried and lastly they made them fresh. This is a concern on food safety standards, much more when it comes to seafood.
Restaurant hygiene is fatal. There was a dirty mop at the entrance with a strong smell of lavender detergent laying next to the fresh red snapper of the day fish open fridge. I went around 5:30 pm. Women's restroom has a foul odor of pee. You can tell is not cleaned per industry standards.
Service is substandard as well. Waiters are unattentive and have no sense of ettiquette. They do not cater to make their customers welcome. In other words... they do what needs to get done and that's it.
You will get better service at any casual dining franchise restaurant.
My ceviche tacos gave me a headache, did mot set well and to run to the pharmacy to get some Advil.
My experience today at Cayo Caribe is the best example on how to run a restaurant operation below industry standards and with no sense of excellence. I was expecting something different since the location is in a business district.
I hope that they make changes, for...
Read moreAfter I landed in Puerto Rico it was pouring, so I didnât had a chance for days to go outside to enjoy anything. I landed in the afternoon & by the time I reached my hotel I canât wait to try some authentic food ! So from the hotel they recommended this restaurant. It wasnât that far, most probably could have walked but it was pouring outside lol..!
I was very excited to try the Mofongo everyone told me to try while being in Puerto Rico. Obviously meat isnât halal so I have tried the shrimp one. I gotta say I didnât like it at all, highly disappointed! It was kinda sad & made me scared for rest of my trip to try Mofongo different place. The thing is everyone will not like everything they will ever try, just because I didnât like this dish doesnât mean I will not like anything else. I did like the dessert called Tres Le Che, yum! The price is on the higher side, so it made me little skeptic about rest of my trip. But I was on my first solo trip & simply thing like this will not scared me off _ Customer service is great, place is big enough, decor is nice. Restroom was good. I stayed here for a while just to see if the rain stops so I can go somewhere near by to enjoy! They volunteered to take some pictures lol, and you know me it made me...
Read moreI have to say this was one of the worst meals Iâve ever had. The salmon had no seasoning. Thankfully it had a sauce with it that tasted okay, but unfortunately the food was barely warm. The waiter recommended mofongo as a side and didnât inform me it was an up charge. It was gross and cold. I ordered the ârisottoâ to go, and it was absolutely shocking and missing all of the things that make rice risotto. It was essentially cheese-flavored rice with broccoli and carrots that were completely obliterated they were so over-cooked. I ordered a steak dish for my brother to go, and it was edible. The only good thing to hit my table was the drink. I may have ordered all the wrong things and really do hope that was the case. I spent $75 on food and drinks, and only the drink and salmon filet were consumed. Everything else went in the trash. On top of that, it took 30 minutes for the server to close out my tab, though he was very nice. I definitely...
