The reviews of this place looked awesome and the Lobster Neptune sounded perfect for my sweetheart so we hiked uphill to try it out. The place looked almost closed. A handful of tables in a "bar" area with 1 bartender hanging around. No waiters and 2 tables of visitors. We needed to ask if they were open. We were first told they were out of the Neptune sauce, but he checked in the kitchen and they did have some; however, the menu advertised $45 for the dish; the waiter said $65 for the lobster and $20 more for the sauce. We decided to skip that and discussed whether to pay for the drinks and go somewhere else. Based on the Mojito, we decided to stay. The "prawns" I ordered were really good. They were good size 7/9 count shrimp and freshly grilled. The smashed potatoes were good too. I would have liked to have some of the sauce on the potatoes to dip the shrimp in...it was yummy! My sweetheart had the ribeye. When it arrived, it was a skirt steak. He rolled with it as he does really like a good skirt steak. It was tender, flavorful, and well cooked (perfect med-rare). The beans and rice were ok, but not especially great. Overall food was good and we didn't mind the quiet dining, but the ambiance could use a huge overhaul. The bartender/waiter was friendly and informative, but didn't check back in with us or check to see if we needed another drink. When finished, rather than trying to flag him to bring ticket, we just walked to the front and paid out. Fix the issues mentioned and I'd give it 5 stars. Probably skip this...
Read moreOur experience was kinda bad, but not as bad as some other reviewers! They could definitely do better!
Wait time: Our wait time here was not as bad as in some other restaurants there. It feels like 'slow motion' in Puerto Rico. Lunch time: We went at a time of the day when they were super-crowded at the entrance and then quickly dissipated! May be the cruise-ship crowd. Many of them were just getting coconut water. But it appeared very crowded. Staff: Unfortunately, it's the same 3 people that take orders, bring food, repeat orders, answer questions, take payments and sell coconuts! We were looking at their older menu on our phones and asking questions. The waiter was still calm but asked to be excused, so he can attend to others. That was on us! Food: They have fresh LIVE lobsters by the pound, that they bring to your table - take your approval before cooking them. This takes time. Drinks came quickly. But our order of 'fried calamari' took too long and was cold when it came. The local fish 'sole' was very tasty. The vegetables were one of the most delicious, I've ever had. They mixed up our side order. Upon pointing out, they brought the correct one. They ended up charging us for both. When pointed out - they quickly admitted and removed one charge.
I would definitely give them a 'second chance' in a different situation.
Caution: There are a ton of free range pigeons and black birds that are waiting to grab a piece of bread or french fry. Beware! Our...
