Decanter Hotel — Hotel in San Juan

We started our Puerto Rico adventure and came right from the airport to the Decanter. They held our luggage while we explored the Old San Juan Section of Puerto Rico as we had been there 9x in Puerto Rico but limited exposure to OSJ. We went all over OSJ and loved it attached a picture to show you some of the things we saw and did.||When we finished exploring my wife was hot and winded with an eye issue she had before the trip. We asked for an early check in like 1 pm instead of the later 3 pm check in but the front desk was a little on the rude side and management charged us for an early check in even with the wife's medical condition. My wife wanted to handle the situation so I stepped back but was extremely unsatisfied with the results and how management handled this matter.||The Decanter is an average hotel but it's what you paid for as it is not a high end place if you want a clean place to lay you head and shower it fits the bill but I would be wary if you have any issues that needs management attention as they don't accommodate. 2.5 stars from me as their location is ideal next to The Convent Hotel where we had breakfast and seemed like a place I would like to stay next time as my wife chose the Decanter not blaming her but I would go with the Convent Hotel next time and pay more for more comfort and better management as breakfast was great and everyone was friendly. OSJ is great with great places to stay if you are on a budget the Decanter is clean and good location. Nothing to take pictures of at the room as it was small and the hotel is small not very photogenic and OSG pics were the best thing around...

The hotel is wonderfully located in old town SJ with friendly and helpful staff. Unfortunately many small things are not attended to - only hazelnut coffee was available and the main coffee machine in the lobby was broken during our 5-day stay. Coffee could be purchased down the road, but there was always a line. Also, no hand soap available for the sink. We were told to use shower gel, which came in a little tiny container. |Noise from partying at night was very loud every night, including lots of partyers screaming, and loud music. But early morning is calm and quite nice.|Despite having reserved a "balcony" room we were assigned an interior room and the receptionist told me that's what I had booked until I showed them our printed reservation that we had booked a balcony room. However, balcony rooms were booked and occupied - we arrived late at night. The supervisor, the next morning, insisted that our interior room was a balcony room! When I asked her to show me the "balcony," on the interior ground floor of the hotel, she showed me double doors that opened into the common sitting area. If you reserve, make sure you choose the type of room and confirm with them in writing the floor that you will be on.|Also poor maintenance - see photo of trashbin; towel rack came apart when we pulled the towel; water came in during night rain and wet our stuff. Kitchen had no utensils, not even a teaspoon! only 3 wine glasses and a decanter, along with good size microwave and fridge.|ROOFTOP bar was excellent. Great views, great service and good drinks and tapas. Music not too loud - a rare thing...

Nice Hotel Horrible Experience!! ( one star is too much for this hotel) We stayed only one night 4.8.16 and it was enough for our stuff to get stolen. Before going out we decided to be SAFE and to leave my credit cards and cash in the room because we don't know the city so well and we didn't want to risk it. In the morning when packing the cards and money were long gone gone. The manager arrived to the hotel to check the cameras and help us out and to his surprise and our surprise someone had logged in to the system and deactivate the cameras . The cameras were off from the moment we left our room till 6 a.m. he didn't understand how that happen because that has never happens and he couldn't give us a response other that he wasn't responsible and it was nothing he could do. We were so upset we called the cops maybe they will be able to helps us but all they did was giving us a report which it didn't help us wit anything. After been in the hotel for 4 hrs trying to solve the issue the owner offer us a free night but of curse we didn't take it he refund our money for the one night stay at the end but we lost more than what we gained.

Bonito Hotel horrible experiencia, un personal de hotel entro a nuestro cuarto en la noche cuando salimos y se robo todo nuestro dinero y tarjetas. Nos dejaron si nada y para sorpresa del hotel la camaras fueron desactivadas del momento que salimos hasta las 6 de la manana. Aun asi el hotel no se quiso hacer reponsable de nada.
