Location, location, location. It's in the center and a few steps away from all the happening and historical places. Friendly and efficient staff! Very clean and recently renovated Rooms. It's a "No frills" hotel with just the basics, soap, shampoo, towels and soft paper are provided. Very comfortable soft yet firm bed with 4 pillows, sheet and comforter, Adjacent to the lobby, in the same building, there's a shaved ice parlor that offers free coffee and muffins to the hotel guests. The shop keeper is super friendly and attentive. Our toom had a small fridge with plenty of space for water bottles, soft drinks, leftovers, etc. No closet but plenty of drawers on the night tables and under the bed too! There's a coat hanging peg with about 7 hangers that was perfect for our needs. A thermostat allows you to control the AC. The nice flat screen TV has cable TV channels (English/Spanish). The excellent insulation from outsode/street noise allowed us to sleep without any interruptions. The front desk employee (Edgard and the ithers) were super helpful by providing restaurant information and directions as well as a great place to park the car about 8 mins away (walking distance). I'd recommend leaving the luggage after checkin and parking the car. They also allowed us to store the luggage after checkout so we could enjoy more of old San Juan and then bring our car to pick it up. Will definitely come back to enjoy more old San Juan magic in this great and centric hotel. I'd give it another star if it would have had napkins, a couple of plastic cups in the bathroom, and a few places to dry out the towels. I was told that the latter were going to be installed soon. The wifi was good and there's no desk but there's a shared area in the hotel that has about 12 small tables with chairs where one...
Read moreWitnessed a gay couple this past weekend get the police fraudulently called on them for approaching the hote staff on missing items from their hotel room. Not sure if it was broken into or staff stole something but it was very loud and the staff were VERY IGNORANT about it and never the less misunderstanding the guest and his point of view. The gay couple got their belongings back with a few things missing. They were even trying to show the staff the photos of what was in the safe first before they left for the night and the staff insisted that they leave the property instead of trying to mediate and or help the situation. After witnessing this chaos and hearing it through the open atrium I decided to check out early and remove myself from the property as I felt unsafe and didn’t wanna experience my belongings go missing as well. The rooms are tiny to begin with and the bathrooms were moldy, dirty and has fruit flies in the shower. I was only staying for two nights to catch a cruise but it didn’t bother me until I witness those innocent gay couple get the police called on them unexpectedly and unecessarily. The gay couple were a famous couple from a television show and the staff could careless still. Avoid this place...
Read moreReally no other place to put my experience with this area because google won't let me write a review when I search Old San Juan. It's congested with traffic. They block off roads which make it hard to navigate around. I took a wrong turn one time and it sucked me back in to the loop of traffic. It's such a headache to find parking on the street with the rental. Pray that no one side swipes your rental because streets can be narrow. Parking spots are blocked off by: planters with palm trees, loading/unloading areas, mail, steel fences(govt or whatever), local dudes with buckets, taxis, and the police. Just make sure you plan about 30 minutes to find free parking on the street. There is a parking garage by the the cemetery on the northwest side. 2 hours was $ 3.21. This area lacks a good hostel, they should observe Antigua, Guatemala. I imagine the red tape makes it hard to redevelop some of the old buildings. I do have to say there are a lot of good bars, restaurants, and shops to go to. We went three times and spent about 3...
