Olive Garden Italian Restaurant — Restaurant in San Luis Obispo

Had a terrific evening and supper at the Olive Garden last week. We came to have supper at a very busy hour for the restaurant. Never the less. We were seated immediately despite the full house and not having a reservation. All the staff members that I encountered were awesome! All had smiles and positive attitudes. Our waitress was fabulous as well. Not to mention her thorough knowledge of the menu was exceptionally helpful to us. My girlfriend is very particular about her likes and dislikes when it comes to food selection. Without a knowledgeable, patient, understanding and genuinely helpful waitress such as our waitress was. Menu decisions and really the entire dining experience can be a disaster. I am pleased that our dining at the Olive Garden was a positive experience in every way! We both highly recommend this Olive Garden in SLO for that "Last Minute" Spontaneous, Rare Opportunity for the two of you to eat out. I am certain that much like us. You will enjoy a Delightful, Casual, Relaxing, Delectable, Joyful and Overall Positive Dining Experience. I Highly Recommend and Encourage you to stop by! I also must recommend that you request the "Blackened Chicken" if you are ordering any of their menu items with chicken. The Chef prepares a Phenomenal Blackened Chicken!!! For that alone. I will be back for more whenever I am able! The blackened chicken also puts them over the top as far as my rating system goes as well. Earning themselves 5 out of 5...

I went with a family party of 10. Our tables were separated. Wait staff explained they did that to allow guests to exit easily if needed for restroom. I would have preferred all at one table as I requested when I called ahead. I ordered the stuffed shells with shrimp, which is a limited time offering. Oh my goodness, it was delicious! I took half of it home, very generous portion. Don't miss this one if it's still in the menu. OG salad was same as always as were breadsticks... tasty. We had two staff assigned to our group. They did nicely with one exception which I'll get to. The manager came over and made sure all was well. Drinks were promptly refilled. My one and only issue is the failure of staff to remove used /dirty dishes. The server brought my main dish while the empty salad plate was in front of me. He started putting the entrée on it, but I moved it. After I boxed my take home, he brought my dessert and tried to put the plays on top of the used dinner plate. Ay-yi-yi. The other staff was more aware and cleared off her table before bringing the next course. When I asked to have the 10± used plates removed from our table of 5, he quickly complied. Maybe needs some time and training. I would definitely return to this OG. The food was great, we got to see the giant meatball entrée! Wow. horrible experience idk what went on but my party and i had the hostess to put our names down so we could wait for an available seat. 20 minutes later, we went to check up only to find out they didn’t bother putting us down! they ended up taking our party to a booth at the very back corner where the bathrooms are, and we barely had tables around us. we didn’t get introduced to our server until 15 min in. we were literally watching a bunch of servers walk by without a glance in our direction as we sat in a booth without anything. the wait time for our food felt like forever! i tried to ask for a refill with a simple “excuse me”, but one of the servers brushed me off by saying “wait” with an annoyed look and never came back. our server did give us our refills……by leaving the pitcher there. there was also no questions from her if we wanted more breadsticks because everytime we saw her it was quick and short, no care whatsoever. when our pasta came out, our server didn’t ask us if we wanted cheese, and when she checked up on us which was literally once, that’s when we asked her for cheese only for her to just leave the entire cheese grater at our table, basically hinting us to do it ourselves! we weren’t even halfway through eating and she already brought the check like we were being kicked out already :// keep in mind it was sunset so...
