I really didn't get to fully experience the whole ambiance of the restaurant, but it's a nice little spot that is open until 3:00 a.m. what I could comment on is the one particular food item that I chose on their menu which was I believe it was called nacho fries. It is very similar to the carne azada fries that I had over in San Diego but these particular carne azada fries or "nacho fries" was not traditional layered how I envisioned it. The natural fries obviously had french fries and I substituted the meat from steak or carne azada, to Al Pastor. In this particular food item they added guacamole sour cream and queso fresco I believe. It was really good but it didn't compare to San Diego's carne azada fries. This dish is still good nonetheless for a night time Munchie meal. This place is easy to find and they do have a waiting area outside which is very convenient. Limited parking though but if you're from San Luis Obispo or attending Cal poly or going to college there I'm pretty sure a simple stroll to that Mexican restaurant is quite pleasant and very convenient. The two ladies that were working there when I ordered my food we're very nice, very knowledgeable of the food and could recite you pretty much everything on the menu and the ingredients that they have with ease. And if you were bilingual and organ Spanish then knowing the ingredients is a plus. Not only knowing the ingredients but also speaking with the staff as well. I would say that the item that I ordered was fairly priced. I cannot say anything else about their food or their prices because I did not pick up a menu. I say if you're in the area go check it out and they're...
Read moreI am on vacation from Northern California, but originally grew up here in on the central coast and I am very disappointed and upset that I paid $35 plus tip for this poorly prepared meal. I had to endure rude, drunk and loud college kids and to top it off wasn't given any sauce I asked for and no tortilla chips. What kind of Mexican food place doesn't give you chips when you spend over $35? Maybe they are in business because of all the drunk college kids spending their parents money. I chose this place for my wife and I because of the good reviews and how they claimed the portion size was good. Well as you can see the burrito did not only taste terrible, but it was small and poorly wrapped. I hate leaving this review because it's not my style, but they struck out so many times with the food quality, customer service and overall experience. This has been a huge let down and forced my wife and I to dispose of the meal and go get food from somewhere else. If you want real Mexican good and a good experience then don't come here. If you want over priced greasy good then this...
Read moreAbsolutely blown away by the Pollo Colorado Burrito at Tonita’s Mexican Food! It was hands down the most amazing burrito I've ever had. The mole sauce was super mellow and complemented the burrito perfectly. The flavors were rich and authentic, making every bite a delight. The portion size was generous, and the service was top-notch. 12/10 experience. Highly recommend!
If you’re a fan of Mexican cuisine, Tonita’s is a must-visit. The staff is incredibly friendly, and every dish is prepared with love and care, which shows in the taste. I can’t wait to come back and try more from their menu.
