Taquitos La Chula — Restaurant in San Marcos

I'm a taco lover, raised in Mexico and these are the best tacos in San Marcos, the tripa taco was one of the best I have tried. It's was not chewy, it was crispy and cooked to perfection. Pastor was full of flavor, and finely chopped. Steak was well seasoned and tender. The double yellow tortillas were great and did not get soggy and did not break apart. Their green salsa is not spicy, and the red one is, great consistency and flavor on both salsas. They also have aguas frescas and the Horchata was delicious, I can tell it is made daily. The service is very fast, staffed by 4 people. Their portions were very generous and the presentation was well executed. Their price is the best thing of all, only $7.75 for 4 taquitos. I have added this place to my top 3 tacos places in Central Texas. I will be back...

We've been here many times and they never disappoint. Good portions of meat in their mini tacos and great flavor. They provide all of the sides, including various salsas with each order of mini tacos. They always have patrons, but don't seem to take terribly long to get orders out. There are picnic tables so you can eat there. Patrons don't always pick up their trash that blows away so sometimes it looks littered even though there is a receptacle near the seating. They give you a receipt with a number and call it out in English and Spanish. When you get to the window to pick up, they always verify the ticket-which is great. My beautiful puppy (Chula) feels second hand embarrassment because of my first and last visit here. I ordered a tripa gordita and the masa to protein ratio was insulting. I’ve eaten vegan food with more protein than this Gordita. The flavor was so bland it had me craving grass as a pallet cleanser. Don’t get me started on their main dish, the birria. What was supposed to be to be the tone setter made me wish I had bought Taco Bell instead. I hope this establishment turns it around and focuses on quality of products because this is unacceptable.
