As many Mexican dishes on the menu as Salvadoran, but while my companion enjoyed her burrito, I was dismayed by my coctele de mariscos mixto (mixed-seafood cocktail). The limp, thawed shrimp were utterly flavorless; the promised octopus (pulpo) was nowhere to be seen, unless it was that awful surimi-like stuff tucked in among the avocado slices. Worst of all, the liquid element was pale tomato water, probably from underripe Romas ... not even proper tomato juice, let alone sauce. I added Tapatio and salt and salsa and lemon juice until my wrist was sore, but I couldn't tease a note of flavor out of this mushy concoction. Worst ever.

While driving down San Pablo searching for something new to eat, El Tazumal Restaurant caught my eye. There was a decent sized parking lot right next to the restaurant so no need to fight or search for parking. Upon entering you can seat yourself or order takeout. The menu features a variety of Mexican and Salvadorean dishes, seafood included. And the waitress was very helpful and always ready to help us. The meals we ordered were delicious, full of flavor. I look forward to visiting again soon. Also when paying there's a variety of Salvadorean snacks and items available for purchase.

The food is very Hardy perfect for someone who works hard and can afford the extra calories. The papusas are very flavorful and hit the spot. I've been out in this area fixing a roof and after 10 hours of back breaking labor nothing satisfies my belly like a proper Salvadorian meal prepared by good people with a passion to share their beautiful culture. Depending on what you order the food can be carbohydrate heavy but isnt greasy or flavorless -- very fresh. The food was warm when I picked it up, the staff all had masks, and the restaurant itself was clean.

(They Rob tips via credit card from customers here. And then blame the customers.) Came in and ordered at the counter, the waiter who took my order added himself a $4.17 tip after telling me my total was $23.17 my amount was then changed by him to $27.17. He never gave me the option to add the tip myself if I had chosen to give him a tip, he added the amount he wanted on his behalf.... I normally came in all the time and same with my family for over 10 years at this place. It is a shame that when the manager was confronted about this, instead of giving me what was taken, he decided to tell me that it was my fault. I told him his waiter entered the amount himself and the manager still took to blaming me. No accountability for his waiters mistake or an apology. So I asked for a refund of my full amount back. Bad management overall and service. I'm not just sharing the fact that it's bad customer service but also for anyone who normally doesn't check their receipt, be aware of the scam they are doing. And hopefully they don't take more then they took from my card or should I say rob someone else. Nore I or my family will be visiting this place again.

Again please take accountability. I work at a restaurant myself and our pos system also let's us either enter tips ourselves or let's the customer enter the tips. What you guys are doing is illegal and please don't go robbing...

Very disappointed. I came here a couple of weeks ago as I was visiting San Francisco. The main thing that really bothered me was paying. We waited a while at the table for a check, our waiter never came back we had to ask another worker, and then she also never came back after that, so we went up to pay at the register. At the register, they gave us a cash amount and non-cash amount (most places are charging customers the credit card fees that now the owner doesn’t want to pay). Anyways, I had cash. Bill was about $64.xx and the non-cash amount was $68.xx. I have no change so handed over $70 and got back around $1.xx. So they gave me back change for the non-cash amount despite paying cash. And I even questioned it and he was like “no no it’s right” spoke little English, and honestly I was already held up enough with my time waiting to pay, I just left. But they most likely pocketed the difference which is pretty unethical. I had a breakfast plate, the cheese ball was pretty gross. It was fresh cheese squeezed into a ball, and you can see hand marks and everything. The horchata “de morro” was very disappointing, did NOT take like horchata at all, just tasted like watered...

Im so disappointed in them i went tonight to buy pupusas and my son almost chocked on a piece of plastic and then i was chewing on mine and got another plastic as well. This is ridiculous how do u not check your food while prepping and could you imagine if my son and i would have choked.. i called them immediately and all the guy could say i dont know how that happend and making me feel like i made it up! Excuse me your lucky i was nice enough to call and inform you verses me call FOOD Administration on your place.. after my full on discussion he could only say well if you want come back and we will exchange them. Instead of giving a sincere apology and offering to refund. Honestly i will never go back. Thanks but no...
