Donut King — Restaurant in San Pablo

This was my first visit to Donut King, a breakfast spot known for its sandwiches, donuts, and drinks. I stopped by in the morning after dropping off the kids at school. The parking lot is a bit small, and there were only one or two spots left when I arrived, but I managed to find a space without too much trouble.

Upon entering, the place seemed a bit dated, which initially made me hesitant. However, I was pleasantly surprised by their menu. While it’s nicely laid out, I do wish they offered a broader selection of donuts. The donuts they did have, though, turned out to be pretty good – flavorful and fresh. I tried a couple and was impressed enough to consider buying more in the future.

Aside from donuts, I also ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant. It was actually quite good, with the croissant being perfectly flaky and the filling satisfying. This item alone makes me want to come back and try more of their breakfast sandwiches.

Overall, despite the minor issues with parking and the dated decor, Donut King offers a solid breakfast experience. Bought a doughnut on my way somewhere for the first time one beautiful afternoon. I opened the bag and pinched off a piece and immediately after, the doughnut fell through the bottom of the bag and onto the floor. I took the doughnut and bag back the following day and they treated me as if I was lying and didn't want to give me a replacement. The gentleman said he would go out of business if he gave everyone a replacement who came asking for it. I then asked him for my money back since he didn't want to replace the doughnut to which he responded by asking me if I wanted the same doughnut but plain. I said no and asked about a twist and paying the difference. He said they were the same price and suggested that next time, I return the same day if there is a problem. That's not always realistic. I felt that his response to me was rude and inconsiderate of me and my money. I didn't like either doughnut and probably would have thrown it away as to not waste the calories had the bag not broke but it was the principle of it all. It's like I didn't have a choice. Best donuts you could find in a 30 mile radius. The only reason why I am giving a 4 star is because I feel like they cheat me whenever I order the drinks. I always order the largest one everywhere I go and this place charges me the largest one, plus the debit card fee which is like 50 cents (If you are paying w/card they charge you 50 cents) which is fine and like a random charge I sometimes get of like 80 cents. Then on top of that, when I hold my drink in my hand and look at the sample drink cup, its literally smaller. I order the xtra large and they always give me something like the medium when the medium is like 5$ and the large is 6$. I never say anything because they have good donuts and because I would be willing to pay more since their drinks are better than starbucks for example but I want what I ordered, If I ordered an xtra large I want the xtra large.
