If you like ice cream, then this is the place for you. Now is it the best ice cream you've ever had or will have...no. "But, wait" you say, "what's your basis for comparisons" you ask. Smitten Ice Cream is my all time favorite. Hope that helps you with this review. If that's the bar and Silbermann's is a four star then you can expect it to be good.
The prices are normal for the bay area and the sizes of scoop can be regular or large. beyond the ice cream they actually have other desserts such as ice cream cake in the front of the shop. Super cool.
The ice cream shop is a tight fit and so it might be best to get the ice cream for on the go, otherwise you'll be starting at people's butts the entire time you sit. Maybe not staring, I suppose that's up to you if you look away real quick, but the fact is you'll be eye level with that region as people order their ice cream. We've gone on a tangent, best to...
Read moreI showed up at The ice cream parlor this evening at 8: 46. There were 2 people in line ahead of me and the 1st thing the clerk said to me was to hurry up and make up my mind because they're going to close soon, This was literally 2 seconds after I walked in the door. I then ask for chocolate milkshake and he said he could not do it because the machine had already been Cleaned. I told him I thought that was ridiculous but I went ahead and ordered an ice cream Cone instead. The ice cream was OK and the place was clean enough. It was very obvious that the clerks priority was to get out of their exactly at closing time. The milkshake machine was your standard Hamilton beach type of machine that is very simple to clean. He was Very adamant that he would not make...
Read moreThe ice cream tastes good, but watch out. Serious quality control problems here. I ordered an ice cream cake for my Mom's birthday. After biting into her cake a number of times, we were shocked when she spit out a sharp plastic shard about the size of a penny. A few moments later, my Dad spit out another sharp shard. Definitely not the birthday party experience we had in mind! The shards came from the ice cream (not the cake) and, as shown in the attached photos, the two pieces actually match up. Shame on Silbermann's for allowing this to occur. I can only imagine what might have happened if my parents had accidentally swallowed the...
