GOOD EATS, FAIR SERVICE
On our way to the Alameda County Fair we found Katy's and decided to stop for a late breakfast. I was starving by this point and couldn't wait any longer to eat. I get really cranky and short-tempered if I go very long without eating, and so it tested my patience when we were sat at a table outside but not acknowledged for several more minutes, when only our drink order was taken.
Through the meal we had different people taking our drink and food orders, and bringing the food and checks. Yet nobody came back to our table to ask how everything was. Which is too bad because I wanted to tell them how AMAZING the food was. I ordered the Seafood Benedict which came with a good amount of Dungeness crab and Bay shrimp. I usually ask for no sauce but decided to get it on the side. The Hollandaise sauce here is really, really good. Glad I tried it! I still wouldn't want it put directly on my eggs, but it was delicious. The 3 eggs were cooked very inconsistently. I had runny white in one, and cooked yellow in another. Same thing on my husband's order of Over-Easy eggs. His were all over-cooked. Both meals came with potatoes and usually this irks me because I prefer hash browns. But once again, I totally loved the potatoes. Crispy, well-seasoned, small (this is a must for me!) pieces of potato. Loved it.
Drinks were refilled once. My tea could have used a refill another time. They have my Pepper Plant hot sauce (good stuff!) on all the tables. And containers of fresh cream which were slightly warming in the sun. The outdoor seating was great. And no bees came to say hi. We paid inside when we finished and continued toward the Fair. If I hadn't been so hungry we would have just eaten all the delicious Fair food, but I'm totally glad it didn't work out that way because this breakfast was really, really good. (And I still ate all the good Fair food not...
Read moreThey USE TO BE so much better. I use to frequent here every other weekend but had stopped due to COVID. The mistakes just added up that were small and ruined the experience. The first 3 were like ok, maybe each person forgot, but then they kept on coming. I'll just list them below and you can choose for yourself. The food was good but due to the mistakes to my food took away from the satisfaction I would say. -forgot to bring creamer for coffee -didn't offer straws or napkins for 3 young kids -5 min till lunch when ordered and said they could not offer fries. Meals came WELL after lunch and all tho 4 people ordered breakfast, the ONE lunch came LAST after ALL OTHERS SERVED. (Child) -potatoes were cold and I don't mean a little. I mean cold from being cooked in the morning and plopped on my plate with the newly cooked food. -eggs benedict, the white was STILL not cooked as you can see from attached picture -adding to the Benedict, (if you are a Benedict person you know) it seemed as if the muffin on the bottom wasn't toasted so it was hard to cut thru, soggy in the covered spots from hollandaise, and didn't stand up to the dish AT ALL. came to fill coffee and we told him we had decaf. Then he never came back. We had to ask for everything. I'm not expecting people to read minds what-so-ever and I don't mind asking. As these keep piling up, I would no longer highly or a little recommend this place due to this. As servers know some of these are a no brainer to offer or bring automatically. The food may be good but I could get good food with out all...
Read moreToday, on a sunday afternoon, i was rlly hungry and on my period. Decided to to to katys korner since it usually has good food and fast service. Went terribly. Was sat down while the man in the front didnt pay much mind to us which is still fine, but everyone after us got our food. I was at this point running on their orangw juice which was more sour than last time. Got the Icelandic salmon with the bagel n cream cheese served with scrambled eggs and country potatoes as well as tomatoes and onions, and a side of country potatoes and an english muffin. After FINALLY receiving the food, my eggs and potatoes came cold as the eggs dont get seasoned but the potatoes do so thank god. As for the english muffin, it came burnt. When we were asking where our food went, the man serving us didnt do anything to help and another lady ended up helping us instead. She got me a fresh plate of eggs and potatoes. Eggs still not seasoned but great potatoes, nice and crispy and seasoned. Before the food arrived, we had asked the man in the front, I believe he’s the owner, and he just said its coming and seemed annoyed at us even though our food came late burnt and cold. Food itself was okay. As we were paying, one person said the chip reader wasnt working, and after she left, another women told us it was our card though it was working fine a short time earlier. Not to mention the muffin and potatoes were EIGHT DOLLARS. like bruh for what ??? and the dude at the front treated yt and poc people differently. By far worst service. NOT happy. other...
