One House Bistro — Restaurant in San Ramon

Arrived at noon on a Saturday, several tables already occupied with parties of 6-8. Lots of celebrating in the first week of January, which was really nice to see. I was immediately seated at the back of the restaurant for a party of one with no reservations. The restaurant quickly filled up thereafter. However, not all tables were reserved.

Food was good, and service & hospitality were excellent. First impression, if you are familiar with the Son & Garden located throughout the Bay Area (or their sister restaurants, Daughter Thai, Farmhouse Thai, etc.), decor-wise, this is a knockoff from them. Son & Garden does a far better job in interior design and florals... I'm referencing quality, colors, lighting, details and overall design placement. One House Bistro is pretty too with gilded accents, ceiling lined with freeways of florals and multiple crystal chandeliers. It feels over the top French.

I ordered the Ginger Fizz Mocktail at $8. Not worth it for the price. It was basically a extra gingery beer soda.

As an appetizer, I had the Tuna Tower at $18. Beautiful presentation, but it was a little overpowered with the mangoes, therefore came across extra sweet. It was served with very thin wafer-like shrimp chips. Each time I put a little spoonful of the tuna mixture onto the chip, it would break and make it messy to eat.

For my entree, it was served five minutes after the appetizer. Service was quick, which was great for me, but good to note if you like your dishes timed out. I had the Tom Yum Spaghetti with prawns at $22, which was recommended by my server. It was delicious! The plump and juicy prawns were cooked perfectly swimming in a Tom Yum cream sauce with mushrooms and spaghetti noodles. It was rich and decadent, and I couldn't finish the bowl, so ended up taking half of it home.

Total bill = $48 w/o tip Mocktail, App, Entree

Do dress warm if you come to this restaurant, cuz it runs on the cold side. I recognize I was dining in early January and thought perhaps maybe it's just me... I looked up, and everyone still had their jackets and/or scarves on!

Overall, would I come back? Yes, I would give it another try. I'm curious about their other apps and spaghetti entrees. Is this a regular occasion restaurant? Probably not. The food is pretty good , and as I mentioned before, the service was excellent. I would definitely recommend it for a girly luncheon, baby...

Following the stellar reviews, we decided to have lunch here with our two-year-old cutie. Despite it being Presidents’ Day weekend, we were lucky to secure a table. The warm greeting and impeccable service set the tone for our meal. The table setup, complete with fancy silverware and branded table napkins, added a touch of elegance. The gold-plated plates of varying sizes were a sight to behold.

Each dish was a culinary masterpiece, presented with a designer touch. The Apple’s Trout salad and Kha Soi noodles with chicken were bursting with unique flavors, making it impossible to resist indulging in them. The lightness of the Apple’s Trout salad perfectly complemented the crispy fish, while the Kha Soi noodles were a delightful blend of curry goodness.

One minor issue we encountered was the limited restroom accessibility due to the tight seating arrangement. It would be beneficial for the owners to address this inconvenience.

Overall, this establishment deserves a solid five-star rating, and we'll definitely be returning soon. Thank you for bringing this culinary delight...
