I ordered grilled chicken enchiladas and one carnitas (pork) taco. The place comes with side of rice and beans.
Wow...the beans had a weird sour taste to them. I don’t know if it’s a secret ingredient or if they were just old, but it didn’t taste like they’re supposed to. The rice didn’t taste like traditional Mexican rice. I also don’t know if it was old reheated rice but it was very dry, like it was refried or something.
The taco was horrible. The tortilla tasted like it was warmed up in the microwave. The pork...I have no idea what that was. It wasn’t carnitas. It was a ball of solid crispy meat.
I hoped the enchiladas would redeem the whole experience, but sadly they too missed the mark. The salsa used for the enchiladas tasted like the stuff that comes in cans, and they just threw it in a sauce pan and literally poured it over the rolled tortilla. The tortilla wasn’t cooked all the way. The CHICKEN, ugh it was so dry and just tasted old.
For a Mexican restaurant, run by my people, mi gente, it totally missed the mark. I was very disappointed. The enchiladas was the only edible thing on the plate, I threw the rest away. I suppose there aren’t too many Mexicans around that area so my guess is their customers don’t really know what good Mexican food is supposed to taste like.
The service, however,...
Read moreThis was my first time ordering food from Rancho Grande Taqueria in San Ramon, the staff was friendly to be fair. I had ordered for take out the chicken nachos, chicken chimichanga, and a chicken quesadilla. when opening the food at home each item was saturated in oil so much so the nachos were a orange/red color from the oil and were saggy. The under cooked chimichanga had to be squeezed to get out all the oil, almost an 1/8 cup of oil came out of it. I believe the problem is the same chicken is used for all the items and had been sitting in some type of oil that seemed a taste little rancid and the chicken looked old or just really dry, maybe that's with it had to be soaked in so much oil. I also thought it was odd they used a microwave some of the food. The food was not edible and the entire order needed to be thrown away. After reading the generic response from other reviews/concerns I had read by the owner, I did not feel I would have gotten any help by calling the restaurant about my order. I am sorry to say that I personally would not recommend this restaurant at least for the items that I...
Read moreOrdered 2 breakfast burritos and carne asada from door dash. The entire bacon breakfast burrito was literally dripping with oil. The potato burrito was way more potato than anything else which would be okay if not for the fact that the potatoes were so overcooked they were basically mashed potatoes with zero flavor or seasoning. The beans and rice that came with the carne asada were floating in oil with way too much salt. The carne asada was an old piece of rubber. To the owner, manager, and cooks, OVER SALTING ISN'T SEASONING!!!! Trust me, this isn't Mexican food, it's barley food. A single bite will make you nauseous. GO...
