The TLDR: Good food. Rude owners. Check your bill for double charging.
Long version: The issue I had was when I added an extra egg to my order of The Scramble Breakfast. The order included 2 eggs and the addition of cheese was an extra $2 and veggies were an extra $0.50 per item. I asked for cheese, tomatoes and spinach. I also added an extra egg for $2.00.
All the orders we had were good. I’ve no qualms with the food, the issue I have is with fairness, manners and transparency.
When we received the bill, I noticed that I was being charged twice for the cheese and the two additional veggies were added to my order. When I pointed this out to the waitress, she said that that was because I added an extra egg to the order, so any additions would have to be charged again (doubled).
I asked for an extra egg in my order, not for double the amount of any additions. You add an extra egg to the pan of scrambled eggs. Pretty easy, yet it seems that they went ahead and doubled the cheese and veggies I ordered without asking and putting it on the bill. That was an additional $3.00 total.
I told the waitress that I shouldn't have been double charged. She left and returned with $2.00 (not $3.00) and said it was out of her pocket and abruptly left. I asked for the manager as it should not come out of the waitress’s money, it’s a management and planning error. There was no transparency as it how would be charged. The owners spoke to me from the kitchen and were rude. They said that they were busy and that they would make the waitress whole. No apology and no explanation.
Dining isn’t just about stuffing your face with food. If the restaurant is careless with how it charges its patrons, it can ruin the experience. It’s worse when the owner (or manager) doesn’t take the minute to apologize and explain what happened.
Not visiting this establishment again. There are many competitors that are courteous; if you don’t put in the effort to make people feel...
Read moreMy friends and I showed up this morning and were told by the host to sit at a large table on the patio. So we do. As we’re all putting in our orders the waitress comes out and asks us to move so a party of 5 can have the table because clearly we didn’t need the space. We said we have 7 and she said well that’s why we have a host service so this doesn’t happen. We said well the host told us to come out here and she says well you can sit at this four top instead. We said no thank you and proceeded to walk out. She calls after us that we can still order from a small table (that she knows won’t seat the 7 of us) and we don’t have to run off. We say no thank you as we continue walking. She then tells the group that’s taking our table that we were sat at by the host, that they were fine and we were rude. How about your server talk to the host and not throw people out of the only table big enough to seat a party of 7 to seat a part of 5.
We went down the street to better half family diner. Better prices, huge portions no wait oh and wasn’t told to leave the table we were sat at to an accommodate a smaller group.
Also like to add that same server did it to a group of our friends who were there 10 minutes before us so it seems to be a common occurrence to seat a group then move them to a different table to accommodate a new group just to move them to get...
Read moreSkip this place and miss nothing. The food and service is fine, but the prices are atrocious for such an unremarkable experience. Their only gimmick is a sweet-and-savory "bourbon maple hot sauce," which may as well be the world's largest rubber band ball. The place is otherwise entirely unremarkable. The coffee options are exceedingly poor, which is unacceptable for a breakfast diner. I skipped coffee entirely; why pay $3 for a burnt cup of weak coffee. They want a meager $8 for a waffle, which does not come with eggs, so you'll be paying an extra $2 per egg, $4 for any kind of meat (your choice of two strips of bacon or a single sausage patty)... I would sooner go to McDonald's for breakfast. Sandusky needs an IHOP. There's a certain amount you expect to pay for the sit-down dine-in experience on top of what should be a $4 plate of food. This isn't it. I will grant that the food is good, and the service is good, it's just not "$16-20 for a typical breakfast platter" good. Especially with no coffee. Our party of five ate a light breakfast for $95+tip, with one of us electing to go hungry instead. We...
