Small City Taphouse is a unique fusion of craft brew pub and Asian culinary delight. With an emphasis on quality and flavor, their spicy tuna and spicy crab rolls stand out as exemplary dishes, highlighting the complexity and richness of Asian cuisine. Each dish is carefully crafted, balancing a mélange of spices and fresh ingredients, creating a gastronomic experience worth savoring. The beer list at Small City Taphouse is nothing short of spectacular, showcasing an eclectic mix of local drafts and bottled brews. Whether you're a novice or a seasoned beer connoisseur, their extensive list will cater to your palate. This taphouse truly embraces the culture of craft beer, offering an array of selections that complement the exquisite food menu. But it's not just about the beer at Small City Taphouse. Their bourbon list is equally commendable, featuring a broad range of options from smooth sippers to more robust varieties. The bourbons add an extra layer of warmth and sophistication to the overall dining experience. In conclusion, Small City Taphouse is a rare find that perfectly combines great food, a vast array of beers, and an exceptional bourbon selection in an inviting, well-curated space.

Fun brew house/ Asian fusion spot in downtown Sandusky (yes you heard that right) really surprised to find a place of this caliber here I can't wait to tell you about it. Plenty of parking across the street (parking garage and street parking). Place is large with a big main bar and a downstairs eating area with an even bigger bar. Grab a seat in the waiting area and peruse the fun beer glasses/merch/to-go beers while you wait for your table (I grabbed a DRINK BEER GET PHO glass). Beer menu is surprisingly large, the IPAs and lagers were a favorite among our group, but for me the CLAGCITY was by far the best if you like a nice floral IPA. Menu has a good amount of items, unfortunately they were out of beef while we were there, but we came on a Tuesday so I understand (really wanted to try the pho). Ended up with the lettuce wraps and spring rolls to start, both were well proportioned and great. For mains there was a mix of spicy noodle bowls, pad Thai, and rice bowls, all of which were enjoyed. Overall a great meal, tasty beers, and a nice modern atmosphere, which I love to see in downtown Sandusky. Will definitely be back!

If the service was great, I would have given 5 stars. I'm visiting from Chicago for Cedar point and Sushi, no matter where I am, is my all time favorite. Tomo at Hotel breakers was not serving sushi this particular day, so I searched for a local spot and was excited to learn of Small City Tap house! I'm guessing my friend and I entered the wrong door, but we walked to the "wait here to be seated" sign and 8 of the employees looked at us as if we asked them to take us to their leader. We patiently waited, but we silently questioned why we were being looked upon by staff as if we did something wrong. Finally, a guy brings us to a table with not the nicest demeanor. He abruptly snatched the seat out from the table for my friend and then walked away with disgust. It was apparent that just our existence was a problem. When the server came, she was nice, but not as attentive. Although it took forever to receive our food, I enjoyed it along with the IPA samples and sake. Had the service matched, this wouldn't be a drawn out paragraph. Great food + not the friendliest staff = I won't return.

The food was good and that was it. I ordered a Sprite and the first one had stuff floating in it, so they're unsanitary for that. Also, they would leave food to sit out on the counter next to other customers not being watched..how do they know someone won't take the food or put something in it, etc? So points off for that. Also, the music is way too loud, to the point where the servers couldn't even hear us speak. We sat there for 10 minutes waiting for someone to come serve us and then they just shoved a QR code in front of us for some stupid digital menu. We eventually got a physical one and it had no photos of the food, which I personally dislike. Our server was just rude in general. He would sort of just slap our food down in front of us, he barely even looked at us and unless we practically yelled he, again, could not hear us over the loud music. Also, I tried to get a sushi roll and he said they can't make it because they have no avocado. Then my brother's roll comes out, and what do you know? Avocado. Then my 2nd roll of choice comes out and it ALSO has avocado, so they weren't out of avocado at all! Absolutely awful customer service, the hostess was at least nice though. Our server was some guy behind the bar, I don't know his name though, so I can't really say exactly who was the problem. Overall the food tasted great but they're unsanitary, our server was unfriendly and it was too loud and it made me stressed out. Also, adding this as one little tidbit, it doesn't feel like an Asian restaurant. The interior feels like a sports bar like Buffalo Wild Wings or whatever else. Do not recommend and I would not ever return.

Also thinking about it I think our server was the restaurant OWNER. He didn't even say goodbye...

I went in to pick up an order tonight (6/7/19) and was very disappointed. The entrance is weird for this restaurant but I think it's due to construction going on in the area. I've picked up from SCTh before and didn't have an issue until tonight. When I walked in there was no one in the upper bar area, there were random plates/ food sitting around and there were other items belonging to staff sitting on tables. I waited for someone to great me for over 8 minutes. Staff members saw me standing there, occasionally glancing my way but not one person came up to help me. I finally walked down and stopped a waitress to see what was going on with my order only to be told that someone would be up to assist me when my order was ready. So I walked back up and waited by the register. Finally a waitress came up to get a drink for another customer and actually asked if I'd been helped. When I told her I was still waiting a Male server finally came and said that it would be just a moment longer since it was a big order... how did he know? No one asked me what I was waiting for! It was actually a 2 item order! When I told him that, he seemed annoyed, rang me up and finally brought my order to me. Oh and the random food and personal items sitting around... I know they belonged to staff because in the middle of finally getting service two servers came back to eat their food. It's not very professional to have your staff treating the main entrance to your establishment like an employee breakroom. My rating isn't about the food, it's about how the staff handled...

We stopped in for lunch / dinner and weren't disappointed. I didn't even know where we were going, I am not usually a fan of surprises, and this place was great! Though, I do like sushi and beer, soooooo...

All sorts of craft beer with IPAs being last on the menu for a welcome change. (Hate me all you want, there are too darn many IPAs out there and too many bars that drought nothing but. To say that American IPAs lack subtlety is an understatement. "Can I please have more hops with my hops. No I don't need variety, just hops" Blech!) All that is just to emphasize they have an excellent and diverse beer selection that does include IPAs if that's your thing. For my part, great porters and solid reliable lagers.

Excellent sushi! All the fish was fresh and flavorful. Maybe too many rolls with avocado and cream cheese, but again, that's me. I still found a good number that I liked so keep it up.

Excellent noodle dishes as well. Tender meats, fresh vegies, and flavorful sauces that weren't overpowering. Guessing that the rice dishes would be similar, and I just can't imagine any food here plated up not having the same quality and care.

Wide open, high ceiling dining room. Great vibe. Recently expanded we learned from the friendly neighbors. Nothing but great service.

Downtown Sandusky is only 15 minutes from Cedar Point. If the park is what brought you to town, skip the captive audience hibachi or Panda in the park and give this a...
