I've come here for years. Food depends on who cooks it. Most of the time, no complaints. Staff and waitresses have always been friendly and whenever there was a problem were glad to help out in any way they could but recently, 1 person in general first name beginning with a capital J, yelled at one of the customers from far back by the bathrooms to not touch the thermostat with all the customers listening. She wasn't going to touch the thermostat. The lady was given a reprimand which wasn't right. This same waitress wasn't helpful when I wanted to speak to Marty the owner about a situation. Needless to say, I'll be going elsewhere to eat. If you don't mind hard rock music while you eat, this is the place for you. Asked the waitress about changing the station and she said Marty chose the station and she wouldn't change it. Didn't even offer to turn it down. Having 2 TVs on and then the unpleasant music doesn't make for a good atmosphere for a restaurant.

Weeks later, after speaking to one of the owners, I realize that everyone has been under a lot of stress since the pandemic and wished I hadn't posted this review. Everyone working at this restaurant are wonderful people to know. The restaurant is a great place to have a home cooked meal and sit and chat with friends and get to know others. Where else can you get home cooked ?? The owners really care about their business and work very hard at what they do.

I guess I was wrong about the owners caring about their business ! Food and service has gotten worse. And this all began before the pandemic ! Last week, I believe 9/22; the waitress with the capital J came outside to speak to me with one of the bakery girls as witness. J said she didn't want me coming back stating because of my complaining, customers haven't returned. Instead of correcting their problems in a positive way, they chose to blame myself. I've been coming here for so many years and this is the 1st time being banned from anyplace. j has created so many problems for this establishment and Kim believes everything that is said to her by J. Mostly the reason I came to this place is to meet with friends and meet others. Now that's been cut off forcing me to find another go to place. I was praying this restaurant would wake up and bring the restaurant back to the way it used to be but no, they chose to look at my review negatively and not do anything positive to improve the business. Oh, and I asked J if Marty or Kim knew about this and...

After reading some positive reviews we decided to try The Marshland today for a late lunch-early dinner. Amanda our waitress greeted us as soon as we walked in the door. After seating us she took our drink orders. I wanted to warm up with a cup of decaf and Amanda informed me she would brew me up a fresh pot. Always a good way to make a good first impression on me. Nothing worse than lukewarm old coffee. The menu had lots of choices and we were both unsure if we wanted lunch or a dinner. I informed Amanda this was our first time at Marshland and did she have any recommendations. She did and I took her up on one of her suggestions. Thank you Amanda. I had the pot roast on toast with potato and vegetable. I paid the up charge to have tater tot’s ( it’s a childhood memory thing) instead of mashed and the vegetable was squash. Where do I start. How about everything was delicious ( including the fresh decaf). The pot roast was tender and tasty and there was plenty of it. Way more than I expected. The gravy was very flavorful, so much I had to ask for more, which Amanda brought right away. The squash was also very good. It had a cinnamon, pumpkin, sweet flavoring to it. The tater tots were perfect as well. I had just a little trouble finishing it all but I forced myself. Amanda kept my coffee cup full with the fresh brew to top off an excellent meal. The Mrs. ordered fresh haddock filets with Mac n’ Cheese. She said it was excellent but alas her eyes are bigger than, well you know the rest. She ended up bringing about half of it home. As if good service and good food wasn’t enough they have a bakery adjoining the restaurant. While we were to full to enjoy dessert at the time, we both figured we wouldn’t want a big dinner later but might just have room for a little dessert. So we made the walk into the bakery and had a hard time making up our minds on what to get. Muffins, Whoopi Pies, Carrot Cake, Blueberry Cobbler, etc. We finally made our decisions and am sure we will not be disappointed as everything else today was excellent. I highly recommend visiting both the Marshland Restaurant & Bakery if you find yourself on Rt 6A around the...

I don’t know if I should be telling you all this but I don’t want to be selfish with holding a place that is so outstanding lol We are SO ecstatic we found this place! Our server Rose was wonderful and so sweet, actually all the employees were! And let me tell you the food here is amazing! We started off with a stuffed quahog: very different, looked like some tiny pieces of chopped linguiça in it, heavily breaded with bread crumbs, nice fresh chopped clams throughout, nice flavor. Then we had a cup of the lobster bisque. This had to be THE best bisque we have ever had! Huge chunks of lobster meat, nice creamy broth with a perfect hint of sherry. Amazing! Now for the crème de la crème, our main entrée… their jumbo lobster roll. These were THE biggest Lobster rolls we have EVER seen! Colossal! It overflowed beautifully on a grilled roll with wonderful succulent sweet CHUNKS of lobster… pure PERFECTION! I’m telling you, you will not be disappointed (Lobster is my favorite food ever, and I didn’t even finish it in one sitting). I don’t think we’ll ever eat a lobster roll or lobster bisque anywhere else again to be honest. The coleslaw is sweet and creamy, fries were perfectly cooked, onion rings very tasty not greasy (we preferred their fries over the onion rings though to be honest). We have to say, they absolutely slay the competition, hands down. Extremely reasonable prices to boot! Don’t forget to grab some bakery goods to take home (because honestly you just may not have enough room to eat it there, as we didn’t lol)… at the end it looked like we still had a whole other entrée left over, so don’t worry about the portions. Honestly everything that we saw come out of their kitchen looked amazing. We can’t wait to go back to try other items especially their clam chowder and I’m really looking forward to trying the shrimp and lobster scampi! I will update on more items as we have them, totally worth traveling over a hour from north of Boston to eat here for sure. No doubt. Thank you everyone at Marshland for your hard work, kindness and making such...

Marshland is a great local casual spot for a nice home cooked meal. We had not been here in some time, since it can get super busy in the summer. But this time of year there is no long line to get in, so we only waited a short time for a booth. The lunch counter had plenty of seating but we were in the mood for a booth. I ordered the meatloaf plate and my hubby got the Schrod. Food arrived promptly and was nice and hit and fresh. The meatloaf was a super generous portion. So much I took half home. It was great and served with a yummy mushroom gravy, which I requested be served in the side. But the highlights of the meal - for me - were the absolutely fresh and perfectly cooked green beans and mashed potatoes! As good as you can get! My hubby said his schrod was very good, but not one of the best he has had on the Cape. He, too, loved the sides and ate all the rest of the gravy, pronouncing it “addictive!” We cleaned our plates for sure. Service was fast and very friendly and there is a great on-site bakery too. A must visit in the Sandwich area!
