We were very excited when Marshland too reopened. Our first experience there was breakfast and it was good and the waitresses very attentive. Today was a completely opposite experience. We were directed to a table for 4. Waitress asked if she could remove two placemats as this place wastes paper. She looked miserable and I said to my husband she clearly does not want to be here. When she came back for our order, I asked if the salad could just be made with romaine no spinach as I have a food allergy. After an audible sigh, I was told they are all premade so no substituting. I then ordered a turkey club and my husband a Reuben with a cup of soup. She asked if he wanted the soup first and he said yes. Another big sigh. Soup never arrived. She came back with our order after a long wait. Reuben, no soup and a turkey sandwich. My husband said. The soup never came so just forget about it. Another big sigh. She leaves and returns with a lukewarm soup. I said I'm sorry he said he no longer wanted the soup and my order is wrong this is not a turkey club. Again, I was not rude as she clearly was having a bad day. She rolled her eyes and says that's how we make them. Then in a voice you might use to school a toddler she says we take a basic deli sandwich and if you want other stuff you have to ask and it costs extra. I said, but it is a club. It comes with those items. She then said you also ordered from the dinner menu and it's not available at lunch. I will get personal here and add that my vision is not so great on the right and apologized to her that I guess I did not see it correctly. I was so upset I said I was no longer hungry. I was on the verge of tears when the couple in the next booth says. We do not mean to eaves drop, but we ordered a club and got a club and it was from the same menu you did. Her explanation makes no sense. You are not in the wrong she is. She never came back to our table and then after 15 minutes returned with our bill and says I took 30 percent off even though I did not have to as I tried to make you happy and you just wanted to be mad! I said Im not mad. I am incredibly disappointed. We used to come here all the time. I have never returned food or had bad service. Then she said in a very condescending manner, what do you want me to say? Now I am mad. I said admit you made a mistake not the chef as he just made the other customers a club. Also I did not order off the wrong menu. Just say you screwed up. Take responsibility. She left and came back and said. I'll pay for your lunch how's that. You go and have a nice day now! She was so rude I did a not nice thing. I told her to go F herself and money was never the issue. I left cash on the table for my husband's sandwich and inedible soup. I was upset and apologized to the other couple who said you did nothing wrong. The waitress messed up. It's not the same here any more and we won't be back either. As we were going out, I heard the waitress say can you believe that old woman just told me to f off. Actually I cannot believe it because it has never happened before. I have respect for all servers and even when the food is not good I have never, ever blamed the waitress. Never once in my 70 years. No worries. We won't be back. There are some really great lunch options in Sandwich. This is not...
Read moreAs a proud Cape Cod native, I thought I'd seen it all. I've battled tourists for parking spots and navigated a rotary at 5 mph behind someone's grandmother. But nothing, and I mean NOTHING, prepared me for the "acai" I was served here!
Now, before you go thinking I'm some acai snob, let me be clear: I'm a New Englander. My people think a bowl of frozen berries is "exotic." I know we don't know what "real" acai is, which is what makes this story so tragic. I walk in, all confident-like, and say, "One acai, please." The worker asks what I want on it, and I say, "Honey and granola." And that's where the fairytale ends. They were out of granola, which, whatever, no big deal. The real crime? This person had the audacity to not warn me that their idea of an acai bowl was a frozen acai ice cube with a drizzle of honey. It's a frozen brick of disappointment, a $15 cube of betrayal. I'm not a detective, but I'm pretty sure a menu warning would have been a nice touch. Something like: "Warning: We serve acai in its purest, most disappointing form." Or maybe, "Don't expect a delicious bowl of goodness. You're getting a berry-flavored ice cube for the price of a lobster roll."
I was going to take a picture but I didn't, but trust me.
I will say though that there Açai berry frozen is probably the best I've hae on the Cape so there is that. But. It's not like the...
Read moreI used to frequent this restaurant when they were open in the same location long ago, it was sad when they closed and another restaurant moved in, now that they are open again in this location we are very happy ! The food is excellent, service is great and friendly staff is there to make you feel welcome. The food is always good at their other location downtown and Marshland Too is no exception, portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable considering the amount of food you get. I expected to pay a lot more than I did for dinner and that was a welcome relief, it also meant that I was able to leave a much better tip for our waitperson, who did a fantastic job with everything. The waitstaff, kitchen and bussers work hard there and even with all the customers coming and going, they never miss a beat. Above all of that, the desserts are awesome !!!! Hats off to Isabelle and her brother Felipe, they have done a fantastic job once again in getting this old favorite back up and running!! Looking forward to being...
