Hungry Howie's Pizza & Subs — Restaurant in Sanford

I've been getting pizza from this location for several years on a fairly regular basis. They aren't perfect but I'm a little surprised by the negative reviews. The place isn't as dirty as it is old. It needs to be renovated. And it probably could be cleaner but the food is great. The staff is usually good, especially the ones who have been there for a while. On occasion I'll run into one that is less than pollite, but they usually don't last long. I know keeping regular delivery staff has sometimes been a problem. I always pick up my order and with one exception, it has always been ready on time and is normally a little early. Sometimes on the weekends they get slammed and it might take 40 minutes for them to make my pizza. That's consistent with a lifetime of ordering pizza from all over the country. Most of the time it's ready in 15-20 minutes. Which I think is impressive. A few months ago their phone system went down and according an ex-employee (who was fantastic, btw) the owner took his time getting it fixed. Kind of mind blowing to me but now it's fixed. They have also recently upgraded their ordering system and even added the ability to order online. If you take a moment to verify your order after giving it on the phone you will avoid most errors in your order. But that's a basic rule to follow anytime you're working with people. It's especially smart to do if you call and it sounds busy or the person taking your order sounds rushed. So that's enough for this review. I need to order my pizza now. I have no doubt that I will be eating a slice of pizza on my way home...

We just started coming back to Hungry Howies and now I know why we left...and its not your prices this time.....We order the Deep Dish w/ pepperoni and mushrooms with extra cheese....we got one earlier in the week, Tuesday, and the cheese was placed directly in the middle....the outer crust didn't have anyl I mentioned it to Jasmine so she didn't charge for the extra cheese which was really cool. So, we ordered another one (yes, we truly do love the Deep Dish if it is prepared properly) and I mentioned to the person taking the order, Jasmine noted on the order to "make sure x-cheese is spread well"... Well, the order wasn't ready....the guy behind the register had an attitude....first of the pizza was not even ready so he waited 20 minutes to get a burnt pizza!!! Do you know how lousy burnt sesame seeds taste? There are thousands of people looking for work...He needs additional training... Not a good review and I noticed you're not getting really good reviews at all...Now think real hard, you might need to re-train the staff so you can get your good ratings up. These employees (not all of them) hate to work...they don't want to be there and it becomes quite apparant when your waiting for your pizza the you ordered for 20 minute pick up. If they don't like their jobs they need to move on. OR... maybe you need to give your staff incentives to do good work and make great pies. This could easliy lay on you too....they are reflecting your...

I recently had an exceptional experience ordering 17 pizzas for a work gathering, and I felt compelled to share my thoughts. I placed my order online at 10:41 AM, and to my surprise, I was informed that it would be ready for pickup in just 15 minutes. As you can imagine, I was skeptical about that timeframe, so I decided to pickup the my order later.

When I arrived at the pizza shop at 11:30 AM, I was warmly greeted by who I assume is the manager. He was clearly working diligently to ensure that orders were being prepared and sent out efficiently. To my astonishment, all of my pizzas were indeed ready when I arrived.

Not only was my order accurate, but each pizza was also cooked to perfection. The quality and consistency were impressive, especially considering the size of my order. It's not often that you encounter such dedication and skill in service today, and I commend the manager and his team for their hard work. They truly went above and beyond, and it's this level of workmanship that sets them apart.
