I’ve been told this place is a “must visit”. We arrived at 6:00 pm on a Wednesday. The two of us ordered three different dogs in order to sample a variety of the menu. Just to set the baseline, I’m comparing these dogs to “dirty water dogs in NYC and The Hot Grill and Rutts Hut in NJ.
The bread; stale, dry, and about as appetizing as a pack of saltines on a red eye flight from Newark Delaware to Cleveland Ohio.
Then came the hotdog which should’ve been a crispy exterior with a plump interior tasted like a ballpark Frank that had been over cooked over a sterno can. If they had put of Vienna sausage fresh out of a gelatin filled can on the bun I probably would not have noticed the difference.
Of course all these things can be overlooked when the service is excellent. Regrettably it was the parallel universe of excellent. We got there at 6 PM at 6:17 PM the employees were putting away the condiments and getting ready to close the store. Unfortunately for them another customer showed up at 6:28 which they welcomed the new customer with a collective sigh of disappointment. If you are really in the mood for a hotdog definitely try this place however if you’re in the mood for a good hotdog...
Read moreI can't think of where I've had worse food. I went there with my family of 4 and we all ordered something different. The inside was clean and the staff were friendly. We were the only customers in the mid afternoon. Parking was easy in and out. We ate outside on clean picnic table with large umbrella. The chili on the chilidog was runny and bland and just made the bun fall apart, while the dog itself was rubbery and flavorless. Onion rings were mushy with very greasy batter. Burger was overdone and black on one side. Italian sausage bun was stale, onions and peppers tasted like chemicals, but the sausage was tasty although very small. The fries looked better than they tasted, greasy and cold but portions were large. They had handmade amish ice cream but after their food we were afraid to try it. They had a little counter inside that was covered in hand written review cards from years of previous customers that gushed about the food but we did not have the same food apparently. Very disappointed and would...
Read moreI thought it would be a nice affordable place to get some quick food. It ended up being very expensive for what the food is. The kid's meal was $7 which was a lot for a slice if pizza with fries and a drink: the chili tasted old and a little like perfume. The hotdog looked like it had been sitting out and then was reheated, not to mention the bun was really soggy.
We saw 2 rats scurry towards the kitchen from where we were sitting in the outdoor-only seating; when I asked for a lid to take my fries to go she said she didn't have one and didn't offer anything else.
The staff was rude from the get go. When I told them I preferred to put my own ketchup and mustard, they said it would be easier for them to do it in the kitchen...
I don't plan on going back there and I don't recommend anyone else go there until they lower their prices, fix their customer service, toast their buns and get rid...
