Gail's Grand Avenue Lunch Co — Restaurant in Santa Ana

Went there during a work week, on a Monday. I've been here before and was generally impressed with their subs, but never went back because I remember having to wait a LONG time for my food last time. So against my better judgement and at the behest of some co-workers, I decided to give this place another shot. A few co-workers and I decided to go because it is just a couple blocks from our place of employment. We called our order in on the way to the restaurant. We had a total of five items, on 1 ticket. I ordered the lunch special, Korean BBQ beef bowl/plate. Our order took FOREVER to be ready. This place is really small too! It's hard to maneuver around people waiting for phone orders, to go orders, diners, and people waiting to order to find a seat. By the time our food was done, we didn't have much time to actually eat before we had to head back to work. The particular item I had was just meh. Nothing to write home about, unfortunately. The wait was not worth it at all. I really want to love this place because Gail and her staff are always SUPER friendly and seem to really try to make up for the long wait times. But I can't love it just yet...at least not till they get a bigger space and hire a few more staff to help push orders out faster. Won't give it a another chance...

Shopper beware. Very rude owner insults customers for trying to call in. Refuse to support this business, offensive service. The owner chased us out after being incredibly rude over the phone. Literally threw away our food in front of us and told us to leave when called out about being short over the phone

To be clear, the owner was highly impatient and the option to wait on the phone was not offered or tolerated. Called back and owner hung up. After trying to discuss the situation the owner decided to abruptly take the food back and dispose of it then returning money already paid.

This was a 5th or 6th visit and every visit was fantastic, however the treatment today totally undid any positive impression built previously. The owner chased our business away without remorse. As a shopper beware as clearly don't need your business or feel the need to extend common courtesy when they experience high...

The food was good, but the wait time was a real issue. I went during my lunch break and it took 21 minutes just to get a sandwich. I work nearby, but honestly, that’s way too long when you’re on limited time. I didn’t even get to enjoy the food — I had to take it home, and by then it wasn’t fresh anymore. Definitely a bummer.

If you’re planning to eat here during lunch, I highly recommend calling ahead to place your order. Otherwise, be prepared for a long wait. I don’t understand how it took 21 minutes to make a sandwich. It just doesn’t make sense, and I left frustrated.

The lady at the counter was really sweet, which I appreciated, but for me, the wait time ruined the experience. If you’re in a rush, I’d suggest going to Subway — it might cost a little more, but at least you’ll get your food in under 5 minutes. I probably won’t be going back...
