Great Pacific Ice Cream Co — Restaurant in Santa Barbara

Did a day trip to Santa Barbara and one of the stops took us to the historic Stearns Pier. The ice cream shop seemed inviting on a warm day so we took the plunge. I'm old school and grew up on Thrifty's ice cream. It is very good and for the sake of argument I would grade it premium, although on the lower grade but it consistently is a reliable brand.

ummm, I was a bit surprised as I was scanning the containers to see what to get that I noticed the product was in Thrifty containers. Still, not a bad deal as you know what you're getting. The hat trick was the price which was at the higher end of the premium brands $6+ for a scoop. Anyway, maybe the person who makes "handmade locally" was on a break or maybe they just ran out but the owners surely must know, most customers have common sense and don't mind supporting their business as long as there is a legitimate value. The cous de gras is just about a couple of blocks north of the pier is McConnel's.

Staff was very pleasant. So, perhaps there's some type of justification but the experience seemed like a bit "slight of hand" by swapping out Thrifty's for the advertised...

The ice cream was good for a hot day. However, I don't why the owner of this place allow scam running. Beware, if you are over 50 yr old, minority or look like a foreigner. The Mexican server there will pull a scam right in front of you. I rode my bike with family, and we decided to stop by for some ice cream. Because of riding bike, I did not carry my wallet so I put only a few twenty dollar bills in my pocket. I pull out two twenty dollar bills and bought for $30.25 purchase of five ice cream cones. The server took my money and did not gave me my change back. She insisted that I only gave her $30. I told her that I gave her two twenty dollar bills, but she keep saying $30, but she refuse to open the cash register to check. I did not want to spoil my day with the family and left. Such a young girl already learn...

Bad *Bad *Bad....I can not even believe that this place is in business. This is one of the biggest tourist places in Santa Barbara California, and when I walked in with my family today there was six young girls standing around staring at the customers dumbfounded that there were people wanting for ice cream. A gentleman had to ask them " what are all you girls staring at?" They were so unfriendly and unwilling to help the six people/2 families that were behind the four of us. Not to mention the extremely high prices for cheap ice cream. All of these girls should be fired or take a lesson in customer service. Where is the owner of this place? they need to be reevaluated as well. I can't even believe that this type of employment is here in Santa Barbara California and that we had this experience.What an awful awful...
