My husband and I dined at this restaurant on a Saturday evening, hoping for a delightful culinary experience. We were greeted by an older lady with short, neatly styled hair, who was friendly but not very attentive.
We decided to order a plate featuring a chile relleno accompanied by a chicken enchilada and another plate that had shrimp enchiladas. When the food arrived, we were surprised by the generous amount of sauce that covered the dishes. Unfortunately, the sauce overpowered the flavors rather than enhancing them. It was the same sauce used on the enchilada with the chile relleno, which was unexpected. Additionally, I found it peculiar that the chile relleno was topped with yellow cheese; this was something I had never encountered before and didn’t quite sit well with my palate.
Regrettably, both plates were nearly untouched, as we found the overall taste unappetizing. We ended up spending $72, not including the cash tip I left for our server. Read moreI've probably ordered the Amigo Burrito Supreme a hundred times while at home over the pandemic... and I'll order it a hundred more!! Well spiced chicken, flavorful rice, smooth refried beans, perfectly cooked enchilada sauce, I can't think of a bad thing to say about this at all. I've ordered food to-go, I've dined there in-person, and I've even ordered just a pint of their enchilada sauce so I could use it for cooking at home-- that's how good it is! People are complaining about high prices in the other reviews?? Well, you get what you pay for, this isn't some flimsy taco with a sprinkling of lettuce and dry meat. From their burritos, tamales, enchiladas, and fajitas, everything I've ordered has been HUGE in size and HUGE in flavor. My favorite burrito...

Fast forward 3-4 years, my wife was able to reach the previous owners to beg them to make some for my 50th birthday party. She said there was no need because her family still uses the same recipe at El Amigo in Santa Clara!!! Who knew? We catered my birthday and our Fantasy Football Draft.
Anyway, my faith in humanity is restored and we now again have the best Chili Verde back on our lives.
It's a quaint family operation that always seems busy at...
