Omee J is the place to have some fun with your sushi! I've always been interested in Omee J and finally tried them last year and again recently for the first time. I'm glad they stuck around long enough for me to make the jump. Their fusion sushi always caught my eye and I finally tried it! The cuts of fish are great and each piece was a mystery of flavor combinations. I really enjoyed the rosemary seated salmon. One of the pieces has Sriracha on it, and while I don't mind spiciness, it really affected the ability to fully enjoy the next pieces due to the lingering flavor. Ginger could cleanse this flavor off. We've also had their Cajun tuna and it was bright and savory! Parking can sometimes be tough, with a good handful of awkward and compact spots. The parking lot services a good handful of other dining establishments and businesses in the same plaza.

I'm willing to give this restaurant another try. The first thing that I noticed was that the parking lot is not big enough for the several businesses sharing it. There appears to be additional storefronts going in adjacently and there is another parking lot that is currently fenced off. You may try street parking, but it is often hit or miss. Parking is important to me, as you can probably tell. Today there were not any open spots. The service was helpful, but slow. It seemed like they may have been understaffed which is somewhat understandable given the holiday. The tempura was cold by the time that it came out, but the udon noodles were great and the combination is a good deal.

We LOVE this place, it's our go-to fusion! Don't remember when we didn't like any dish, the appetizers are wonderful (Jalapeno poppers and I forget all the names but you can see in the photos what we've ordered). The rolls are fantastic and they do have photos of them so you know what you're getting. Two things to note: they did increase prices during the last year which is understandable given inflation. Also, the place is situated next door to a "dive bar" so while there's plenty of lighting in the parking lot etc and it's perfectly safe, you won't have the "nice dining out" experience until you get into the restaurant.

Food: 4 Service: 4.5 Atmosphere: 3.5

Omee J Fusion Sushi Bar & Grill was an overall enjoyable experience. The menu is pretty large with sushi fusion dishes and a wide selection of specialty rolls. In addition, they have a nice selection of appetizers and traditional Nigiri sushi and sashimi selections. The prices can be a bit high on some of the specialty items/rolls, but the prices weren't outrageous.

We started with the "Spicy Garlic Edamame" and I personally really liked this dish. It was a nice twist on edamame and the sauce they used on the outside of the edamame was tasty with a solid heat factor. It was a bit hot for my girlfriend's tastes, but I loved it.

We then ordered our main meal which consisted of nigiri for myself and sashimi and a specialty roll for my girlfriend. My girlfriend ordered the "Salmon Express" which she said was quite good, and Salmon sashimi which she also enjoyed. For my nigiri, I ordered Salmon, Albacore, Yellowtail, Crab, Mackerel and Uni. I would rate them as follows:

Salmon Nigiri: 3.5 - Good, but average. The salmon was of good quality, but not particularly tender or flavorful. Albacore Nigiri: 3.5 - Good, but average. Similar to the salmon I thought this was pretty good and of a good quality of fish. Once again not particularly outstanding in flavor and about the texture you would expect. Yellowtail Nigiri: 4 - Quite Good. The yellowtail was tender and tasty, in retrospect I would have ordered more of this one. Crab Nigiri: 2 - Not good, would not order again. This was definitely the most disappointing piece I had. In their defense, it is listed as "Crab Stick" on the menu - and that's what it was - I'm not sure it was even real crab or "krab", but I didn't like this one. Would not recommend it. Mackerel Nigiri: 3 - Fine, but not for me. The mackerel was fine, and may be to some folks tastes, but it wasn't to my tastes. Mackerel in general can be hit or miss for me, and this one I didn't really love the combination of flavors for the mackerel with what they topped it with. Wouldn't order this one again, personally, but you may like it. Uni Nigiri: 4.5 - Quite Good. This was probably the best nigiri I had at Omee J and I thought it was quite good and a generous amount in each piece that I could turn into 2 bites per nigiri. I enjoyed it quite a bit and would order it again. However, it was also the most expensive of the nigiri I ordered by far, which is not unusual for Uni, but worth noting.

The service was quite good, our waitress was attentive and quick with water refills and our sushi didn't take too long to be prepared. The atmosphere was fine, but nothing particularly spectacular. The sushi bar did have blue neon lights which added an interesting visual element, but the interior is otherwise unremarkable.

Overall, it was a pretty good experience and we will probably come again...

I came here tonight really excited by the prospect that I would finally find a delicious fusion sushi place, and I came out underwhelmed.. I want to preface this review with saying that I am rather attached to my favorite japanese fusion roll restaurant, Sushi Dan, in Los Angeles, so I have been trying to find a place that mirrors the quality and price of it here in the bay area.

Here is the breakdown:

Spicy Garlic Edamame - I had read some reviews that this was delicious, but I thought it was incredibly overcooked and the sauce was really overwhelming and way too syrup-like. I definitely don't recommend it. At over $5 for the side order, it was also very overpriced.

Orange Ball - I thought this roll was alright. It's good if you are a fan of salmon. I thought again that the sauce was a little overpowering, but I am a fan of salmon treated more simply. I did however like the way that the citrus in the sauce played with the saltiness of the soy sauce when I dipped the roll pieces.

Barbara - My fiance ordered this roll, and it "mushy" in texture which we both agreed on, but I really did enjoy the flavors. The roll was very creamy and I liked that it was baked because it being warm gave it a totally different flavor profile than typical rolls.

Overall, my experience wasn't bad, but it wasn't something that I would come back for. Everything seemed a little overpriced (in the context of sushi, since all sushi is pretty expensive), but I'm glad I gave the...

Was looking for a nice lunch time with my co workers but here are some of the reasons why I did not leave a 10% tip You are seated and line cooks along with the servers are starting non stop at you and mumbling (Feeling like they talk about you) Charge $1.50 for a small container of siracha Why? Other sushi places I've been at have never charge extra for sauces! Rude service food with attitude when my bento box came the server was pushing the bento box in my face to grab it instead of placing it in the table like other restaurants Upon paying server asked me if there was something wrong with service as tip left was not even 10% I responded back I am obligated to leave a tip at all and if your job pays you by tip instead of hourly I suggest you get a new job.

I have myself worked in restaurants as a server and never complained about my tip I was greatful for whatever tip was left even if it was just cents

In the state of California no guest is required or obligated...
