Shu's Korean Restaurant — Restaurant in Santa Clara

I had a very frustrating dining experience at Shu’s Korean Restaurant and would not recommend it to anyone. From the moment we walked in, there was zero service - we had to get our own menus, place our order at the counter, and even return the menus ourselves. The restaurant wasn’t busy (literally there were only us when we came in), so there was no excuse for the lack of attention.

The staff, particularly the Korean lady at the counter, was unprofessional and rude. When I went to pay, my credit card (which had worked just 30 minutes prior at a milk tea place) was declined the first time. Instead of helping, she just nodded at me to come over and acted like I was doing something wrong. She tried it again, and of course, it worked - so clearly, there was no issue on my end.

What made it worse was that when I first arrived, the same lady grabbed my purse without asking while complimenting it. I appreciate the comment, but touching my belongings without permission was completely inappropriate.

The food was mediocre at best. The seafood pancake had a decent amount of seafood, but the dough was still raw in parts, making it unpleasant to eat. The beef bibimbap was disappointing - the beef was overcooked, the rice was mushy, and the center was like thick, gluey porridge.

Overall, this place fails in both service and food quality. I won’t be returning and would advise others to skip it. There are much better Korean...

Went here for dinner with my little family last night. Tables are set in safe social distances from each other. Family-owned business and they were super nice. Just a few minutes after putting in our order and food was already coming out. They move fast here! Customer service is top-notch and the food...oh the food was oh so AMAZING! We loved every dish we had. Very generous portions too! After our little girls (age 1 and 3) were done eating, they were doing a little exploring by walking back and forth down the aisle. The owners never minded them nor did the other customers that were dining in as well. Everyone was too busy enjoying their delicious dinners! The Bossmom kept waving and saying hi to them. I loved that most. Thank you Shu's! Loved the friendly vibe here. We highly recommend this place if you're craving delicious Korean cuisine. We will definitely...

Ordered their ssam bap and it was a mountain of food! We got the pork and squid and they were both delicious and fresh. The proteins were both tendered and flavorful. The veggies that they gave us to wrap the meat were fresh and had a good variety of red lettuce, sesame leaves, cabbage to seaweed. The banchan was also delicious. We easily have left overs for the next day!

So planning for the next day, I might have to cook up another protein but we’ll definitely be able to make use of all of the rest of the veggies and leftover banchans to make more ssam bap for two. Consider the pandemic to be as depressing as it is, getting take out from this place was the highlight of our day.
