I'm sad to say that today will be the last time I eat at Chipotle. When I started eating at the Chipotle in Culver City around 2008 they served large portions of food. They were known for stuffing their burritos so thoroughly it looked like magic that they were able to close the flour tortillas. The portions got smaller over time and I'd occasionally have to point out that my husband only gets steak, beans and cheese and would politely request that they add a little extra so he'd get a more complete meal. Today the portions were so small I said, "That's the tiniest burrito I've ever seen!" It was a good-natured observation and even my husband and the two young men behind the counter chuckled. I said, "Can you add a little more steak, beans and cheese?" He said, "It will cost extra." We said fine. We've never had to pay extra for a regular sized burrito before but paying a little extra so my husband will get a regular sized burrito instead of a tiny burrito seemed worth it. He added just a little more of everything and my bowl and his burrito came to $30. $5.50 for extra steak. The spoons used to scoop food are fairly large. Putting a few pieces of steak on a spoon that large and justifying what they charge makes no sense. It's theft, quite frankly. We enjoy paying for the pleasure of eating out, but he and I could have gotten our own personal pizzas at Chi Chi's for $30. So yeah,...
Read moreI've had good food from here in the past. So I will give them some credit. But tonight I was kind of grossed out by something I found in my chicken bowl. It was a large completely whole leaf with what appeared to be a worm hole in it. I took it back because the thought of eating something with a worm hole, left me wondering about the worm and where it might have ended up. So I took it back and instead of the manager saying I'm sorry can I get you a refund? He said that that was a bay leaf and they cook with bay leaves all the time.; Like how dare I be grossed out by something like that. When I again pointed out the worm hole they replied they cook it in their rice and it should have been taken out. He completely ignored the fact that I was concerned about where the worm might be and why is there worm eaten leaf in my food. I understand using Bay leaves when cooking, but this is Mexican rice and it had a worm hole in it. I finally agreed that bay leaves were edible but I still ask for my money back. I don't like the way the manager made me feel like there was something wrong with me for not wanting to eat a leaf with a worm hole in it. I don't think I'll be going back there...
Read moreThat is the kids quesadilla which is 4 bucks. They did remake it with cheese (couldn't find any the first time). I hate to say it, but taco bell or del taco offer much more for kids than this chipotle (quesadillas wise).
I understand that chipotle has been getting worse in value each year. First, they started killing people with food poisoning, then they had a rewards program that kept losing rewards. Now value gets worse. Take queso. It sells with chips for 3.55 - same as guac. Buy each separately and it costs the same. However, ask for them in your burrito and cheese costs 1.30 where guac is way more for the same thing. Well these are my thoughts that were never worth putting in a review until I ordered a quesadilla where I couldn't find the cheese. And yes, they confirmed that the order was made right, but they remade it to try and have it be less crispy.
To be clear, my problem wasn't with the service. That was decent. It was that my three year old wanted a quesadilla, and this didn't qualify. I gave them 3 stars since they were nice besides failing at the one thing...
