Update: I've been back several times now to try more mains and sides. Everything has been incredible. Brisket, creamy coleslaw, pulled pork, you name it.
Just checked out Copper Hill BBQ while desperately searching for some place new to me -- and what a lucky win that was!
Everything we got was delicious, in a great portion size (I am currently so so full), and at a very fair price. For $14, I got a nice pile of great tri tip and sides (that's less than most fast food combos these days). All workers were very friendly and attentive, including a clerk who remembered to bring my banana pudding out to me when I had nearly finished my meal. The restaurant was very clean and neatly organized. Also, we waited all of 5 minutes to get our food, which tasted very fresh.
Best of all, the owner came over to our table outside to check on us, ask how we liked it, strike a friendly chat, and even gave us a sample of the smoked pastrami that was placed on the specials menu that day (it was sooo good and fatty). It had probably been a decade since the last time an owner of a restaurant came over to check on my meal and chat. I didn't catch her name here, but you can tell she's proud of her business, as she should be.
If I had to do one negative, I can say the salmon and spicy slaw were swimming in their sauces. The good news is the sauces were delicious and flavorful. I would recommend they are plated in the back using a slitted spoon or something, so excess sauce can easily drip away. Again, it really isn't a big deal, though.
Copper Hill BBQ is an easy recommend for anyone in the area. I might go back tomorrow with my family, that's how great of a meal I had. Plus, if you've ever wanted to support a small business owner who deserves the best, now is your chance....
Read moreWOW, what a surprise. My wife and I received a $50 gift card at Christmas for Copper Hill BBQ. We had never been here before and thought it was a restaurant like Wood Ranch BBQ, Rattler's, or Bear Pit BBQ. It wasn't at all what we thought. At first glance I thought it might be a drive thru place. It wasn't so we parked and went in. It's a small, maybe 8 tables inside and a few outside. Well, we are here with a gift card so let's try it. We walked in and were greeted by a very cute nice young lady named Symone with a lovely sweet personality. We also met Lori the owner and we then realized why this establishment had such a great vibe. My wife ordered the Tri-Tip and I ordered the Brisket. We both were eating and talking about the restaurant and my wife said try this it's AMAZING, WOW, I agreed and took the first bite of my Brisket and said the same thing! So MUCH BETTER than the larger BBQ restaurants. They don't have a bar but do have beer & wine. They are a cashless restaurant that takes debit & credit cards as well as Apple Pay. You can check out their web site and see what Channel 7 has to say about them and...
Read moreLike every good restaurant there comes a time that they start to just become ok. Then nobody goes anymore. Then they close their doors. The prices are overall great. However, when you order from Castaic and have to drive to pick it up, then there has to be value in what you are getting. We ordered a Salmon Bowl. The bowl was less than half full of rice and veggies. The salmon weighed only 3.2 oz. Living in Castaic the Bowls at Waba Grill are much bigger, taste just as good and are $1.71 cheaper. Service: I asked for BBQ sauce for the tri tip. The server said it was in the bag. I said are you sure? She said yes I saw two of them. When we got home we found no BBQ sauce. Luckily we had some at home. The sad part is my family didn't want to order from here. I talked them into it. Now I am on the bottom of the "Choosing Where We are Going to Eat this Week list." I do appreciate the great prices. And I hate writing this review but I want to see business' succeed. I also know the owner likes to make her rounds to make sure...
