We normally like this restaurant, but we had a bad experience today.
They were having a blackout issue when we walked in, but it was resolved within 3 minutes or so. We were the first customer in line today. We ordered for takeouts. Then we had trouble paying with credit card due to their system issues. The lady at the cash register kept trying, but it was not working. She asked us to pay with cash. We struggled to find cash on us, but we managed to have enough by changing the orders.
In between, a quite a few customers came in. We stood near the door and waited for our order. They were serving sushi to the customers who just arrived. A waitress told us to be patient when we asked how long more we needed to wait.
As we thought about cancelling the order after waiting there for 40 minutes, the waitress who took our order brought our order.
We took them home and realized they gave us two wrong orders out of four, and the rice was hard, tasted like they were not fully cooked. I took the rice off of the rolls and ate with the rice cooked at home. Today’s visit to Tokai Restaurant was a terrible experience over all. This is a review based on today’s visit.

Read moreLook…I normally don’t leave negative reviews but this needs to be public. I walked in on a Friday around 6:45pm and asked for a table for 1. It was rather busy and as a result I was told to wait about 5 mins. Less than 5 mins after, a couple walks in, asks for a table and is IMMEDIATELY seated. I looked back at the waitress who said it would be five minutes with a look of confusion and was told “don’t worry, I got you”. Rather than embarrass myself by getting aggressive, I just walked out. I don’t need to tell you what I look like as opposed to what the couple looked like in order for you and the rest of the reviewers here to understand why I’m upset. I would like a response back from management and for her to explain to you and myself why I was skipped over in that fashion.

While I appreciate the response, it doesn’t properly address the issue while simultaneously making it seem as if what transpired was simply a result of me declining seating and being unreasonable.

Read moreWent to Tokai Sushi tonight and they are officially on my boycott list. The food in the first pic is a 5 piece sushi combination with a spicy tuna roll. I'm not sure how 5 pieces of the same fish make a combination so strike one. Next picture is a sushi burrito. It's pretty but very bland and overloaded with crab. Not great, but not a strike.
Next strike goes to our server who took our order and did not show again tell she screwed up splitting the check. The check which we asked to split (5 of us) and even ordered in groups to make it simple. They never got the split right after 20 minutes so we ended up splitting the check on our own.
Final strike was for food delivery. We ordered 7 items and each item came out separately roughly 5 minutes apart (After waiting 30 minutes for first item). I would understand if they were slammed, but they had three servers, two chefs, and maybe five tables occupied.
We went when they opened and other then bland rice it was fine. Since then they have raised the prices, dropped all you can eat, and updated their menu removing every picture from the menu.
