Don Cuco Mexican Restaurant Newhall — Restaurant in Santa Clarita

We met up with friends for a small birthday celebration. People were going to straggle in over the hour. We were given a table outside. Fast service, and they were very attentive. As new people can by, their drink orders were taken within two minutes, and food orders in 10 min. Some of the orders were "custom" - extra sour cream, no ice, extra napkins, etc. - and almost all of them were addressed (they eventually ran out of lemonade for the kids.) They even gave us additional plates for a small cake we brought - again, fast and super nice service. When I got my check, I noticed that the total applied to my card was less than my total bill (i.e., working in my favor). I have been going to Don Cuco since I was a baby. It's my families go to restaurant. As far as chain, family style Mexican restaurants go, there is no better. They have the best chips and salsa I have ever have and they keep the chips warm which is an extra touch. Their Albondigas(meatball) Soup is super savory and has a great tomato broth. Strawberry Margaritas are killer! Not icy and not too sweet, could use a touch more tequila though. You usually don't feel anything after one. You could order anything off this menu and be happy. I have tried at least half of it and have never been disappointed. Their service is unmatched. So friendly and on top of things. My only complaint is that I live in Denver now and the have no locations in Colorado. Please open one...

We were pleasantly surprised with this find. We're not from this area and were dropping off one of our girls at CalArts and looking for a place to eat. So glad we came here, service was great our waiter Josue was attentive and offered lots of great info and recommendations on the menu. I ordered the thin steak (#28 carne asada) and it was perfect, loved the yellow corn tortillas which seem hand made - yum! I also ordered the cadillac margarita which is why my review is not 5 stars. It was not the best. Rest of my party had the tilapia, which was a hit, carne asada burrito which was split with 2 teens and they were still full, kids had quesadillas with french fries which they could have shared.
