I am not one to write online reviews but I will make an exception for Love Sushi, as my family and I have never been treated with such inhumanity. We used to enjoy this place but now I will actively go out of my way to discourage people from eating here.
I ordered the Tofu Steak appetizer and since I do not eat fish flakes or fish eggs I politely asked our waitress, Rebeca, if there was anything fish-related in the dish. She told me there wasn’t, so I was happy ordering this dish and a steamed rice. My tofu arrived 30 minutes later than everyone else’s dishes, and each piece of tofu had a pile of smelt eggs on it. I reminded our waitress that I asked if their was fish products in it and sent the dish back, thinking that it was just one mistake, but this is where it all began…
My rice never came, yet appeared on our bill. My family’s sushi rolls fell apart as they tried to eat them––not because they were holding them wrong, but because the rolls were already broken on the plate. My water cup was empty for over an hour. When my sister and I ordered mochi, they delivered it without any utensils, as if they expected use to lick the whipped cream off our plate like dogs.
As we asked for utensils and waited, watching our eight dollars worth of ice cream melt in front of us, a waiter came over and aggressively dropped forks onto our table. When Rebeca returned, my sister explained to her that we were disappointed in the service we were receiving. As examples, my sister noted that the waiter rudely delivered our forks and that I hadn’t had any water refills. Rebeca explained that several of the waiters had just come back from a trip to San Francisco and were tired, which is why the service was subpar. It should also be noted that she was carrying a pitcher full of water but––despite being told that I hadn’t had water in over an hour––walked away without offering to refill my glass.
Finally, the cherry on top of this whole experience: the waiter antagonized my grandfather with an impression of him. When the waiter came to feign an apology for the way in which he delivered our utensils, he explained that he was unsatisfied with the way my grandfather asked for them and added that he “doesn’t take it” when customers are rude to him. Moreover, he proceeded to give us an impression of the way my grandfather ordered the dish. My grandfather does not speak English and used some gesturing to order the forks, but was not intentionally rude; this server, however, went out of his way to antagonize him. Here's a customer service lesson for this waiter: even if you're not 100% happy with the way you're being treated by a customer, it is your job to provide good service (especially when the service has been a trainwreck so far).
The servers at Love Sushi should learn that their customers are paying for a service, and that the customers expect that the service will be delivered professionally. They believe that returning from a vacation in San Francisco warrants them the opportunity to provide terrible, offensive service. I recommend going anywhere...
Read moreHands down one of the worst restaurants I’ve ever had to eat at. I really hate to say anything negative about places, but I’m hungry, thirsty, and there’s just nothing I can do about. I ordered the veggie roll, cold tofu, and steamed rice. My partner ordered the rainbow roll, no albacore, garlic edamame, and yellowtail sashimi. I don’t like garlic edamame, but it’s the only thing my partner found edible. The rice was undercooked and had an unpleasant flavour. The tofu tasted spoiled. The toppings looked week old as well. They served the veggie roll alongside my partner’s fish. So I couldn’t eat it, and ordered a second one on it’s own plate. I took a bite and couldn’t even chew it. Had to spit it out due to poor texture and awful flavour. My mouth went numb and is tingling but I have no idea why. I love vegetable rolls and never had such an experience before. My partner’s roll looks past due. They added albacore even after they confirmed no albacore. The yellowtail belly isn’t eatable. Lastly, I asked for ice tea, and they gave yesterday’s Lipton tea, which is not only tastes like yesterday’s tea, but it’s not vegetarian. The water tastes like cleaner. The whole restaurant smells very strongly like cleaner, which honestly might be contributing to the flavour of all the food. Service is no good. My partner didn’t even get to look at the menu yet and they repeatedly came to our table to ask what we wanted to order. We barely had time to sit down. I kept having to ask for a moment. Then when it was time for them to bring our food, they placed the food down with such negativity. I almost want to describe it as “carefully throwing it on the table”. It wasn’t busy in this restaurant so there was no reason to be in such a rush. I hope I never have to...
Read moreMy husband and I were road weary travellers looking for sushi. After a disappointing stop at a different local sushi restaurant we found Love Sushi & Roll, a hidden gem in a strip mall. The fish was fresh and delicious. The portions were generous and Sushi Chef David's secret sauce is amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful. A welcome panacea for our frazzled nerves. We wanted take out, because we had another six hours of driving to get home. The sushi chef introduced himself while we were making our selections and asked where we hailed from. We told him we were from the bay area. He then asked if we knew I'd a sushi place in Sausalito called Samurai Sushi. Our mouths hit the floor. We were very familiar with it. It was the location of our very first date 21 years ago! At Chef David was preparing our sushi, we had a lovely chat. He doesn't know it but this last week was an extremely stressful one for us and reminiscing about a sushi restaurant that was dear to our hearts was just the thing we needed to pick...
