I truly feel bad giving a poor review as I enjoy the other two Eat Real locations a lot, however this was probably the worst dining experience I have ever had. I decided to try the new location today on Main St for the first time. My sister and I are both vegan, which Eat real is usually very good at catering to. On the menu they have the “Soyrizo breakfast burrito” which comes with real egg. Right on the menu under this item it says “*sub tofu scrambled eggs to make it vegan”. Easy enough, I order that with that suggested substitute to make it vegan. Our waitress was very nice, but the entire time seemed confused and disorganized. When I ordered I said “the Soyrizo breakfast burrito, but I will sub out the real egg with the tofu scramble to make it vegan please”. Our waitress seemed a bit confused at the request but read it back to me correctly. So I again said yes, with the tofu eggs. It seemed pretty straightforward, it comes with real eggs so if you are substituting that out, it’s not going to come with real eggs.
First burrito comes, it has real egg. No problem accidents happen, I tell our waitress. She tells me “oooh you wanted to tofu eggs, sorry I was confused what you wanted”. A bit of an odd response, not sure why didn’t clarify when I first ordered then. But she apologizes, and says they will make a new one. It took about 15 mins before the new came out which was a bummer because everyone else was nearly done eating. The second one comes out, AGAIN WITH REAL EGGS. Which was really upsetting because I bit right into assuming that wouldn’t make the same mistake twice, which as a vegan is really upsetting to eat real egg. That could be a major concern for someone with a food allergy. I understand restaurants make mistakes, but to send a dish back and bring a new one with the same problem it’s just bizarre.
I tell our waitress, and she says sorry and takes its back for a second time. She again seemed confused on what the right order should be, which was concerning. At this point everyone else at the table was done eating, so I asked for it to go. I started to feel a bit uncomfortable about the whole situation, so I called a different waitress over right after and said to actually just cancel the order.
I’ve never had a restaurant make the same order wrong twice. I want to emphasize our waitress was very nice, but just seemed to have no idea what the menu entailed or recommended substitutions. It’s not like I made a unique request, it suggests that substitution right under the item. There was also no sense of professionalism or urgency when the order was wrong the first time, and when it came out wrong a second time it was just “oh sorry let me get you a new one” without any awareness that the entire table is all done eating and it’s going to be nearly 30 mins now to get a correct dish.
After we paid the bill, the waitress said “I’m sorry I feel bad are you still hungry?” Which I thought was weird comment to make. I mean of course I’m hungry, I literally never got the correct dish and didn’t get to eat. I just had to sit there while everyone else ate. I never expect anything for free, but I was pretty surprised that didn’t offer just to make the correct one and give it on the house at that point. I thought the point of her question was she was going to offer something on the house, but she never did. I guess she was just making nervous small talk. The two items we did get, we paid for and left. Really disappointing experience overall. If a restaurant is going to cater to vegans, it really should be taught...
Read moreI walked in and the atmosphere is very beautiful, very aesthetic. There is indoor and out door dining which both offer a very comfortable scenery. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the area is very clean. The indoor can accommodate 2/4/4+ small or large parties of people which I really like but there seemed to be only 2 large sections so for a party larger than 4 I recommend calling ahead of time if they allow that. There was no wait to enter or to sit down. The menu is very large, make of that as you will. Price wise it's decent prices per the portion of the plate. No complaints there. I ordered a plate with chicken which tasted very dry. The rice tasted old, the chicken was dry and the vegetables were not very pleasing. I do give them a plus for huge pieces of broccoli despite not being used to pieces that large. I did ask for no onion but received it anyways. I also had their desserts and they were okay. Not good and not bad. I wish I would have given it a better rating but the main reason for the loss of stars are the food which is why someone would initially want to visit. The service was overall above average. Very kind people but again there was no quality check before leaving kitchen and the order was not given as requested. If the request cannot be made I would understand, specially if communicated but it was to my knowledge they would remove it. The main reason I bring this up is in case anyone has any allergies or is sensitive to any ingredients keep in mind to double check your order and be careful. People want to go out, have good time, delicious food, nice scenery, the whole point is to go somewhere you know you'll enjoy yourself, have a good time and recommend others to the area so they can have a great experience. This place has high potential and maybe I am one of the few to have had an experience like this. I almost provided the restaurant with 3 stars but unfortunately, the food really was the issue here. If the food was any better a 4/5 star would have been provided. The scenery is great, food definitely needs improvement and the service would be amazing if not for the mistakes on the order but I am not sure if that's an issue with the front house or back house. I imagine more in the back, since it's the kitchen. If I come back and have a better experience I will update my review. Food and service, I don't think the atmosphere will change but if it does I'll update that as well. I was unable to take photos today but will make sure to add some...
Read moreI really loved the aesthetic of this place! Everything is a neutral beige and white, so it has a really clean look to it. We were staying nearby, and this place was within walking distance, so we decided to give it a try. The four of us got there a few minutes before opening on a Saturday morning, so we got a seat really quick. As time went on, it started to fill up a bit more. Really nice look, and they have a little nook of wines and teas that they sell.
For drinks, 2 people got coffees, my sister got the lavender lemonade, and I got the tropical smoothie. The lemonade was pretty good, and I really liked the smoothie. This place is pretty healthy, so it definitely wasn't a super sweet smoothie, but the orange juice in it helped balance it. There was also coconut meat blended into it, which you would get little mouthfuls of, I loved it. Everyone at the table loved their food (cheesy eggs, french toast, and OG breakfast). I got the coconut parfait because I was having some nausea issues the past few days. The coconut yogurt I think was good for my stomach because it wasn't dairy, but the agave they add to sweeten it up is only on the top, so I had to work to get any sweetness down to the bottom. It was ok.
The service was great! We were greeted by a very nice hostess who sat us, and our waitress was Keely. She was friendly and pretty quick. If looking for something on the healthy side that is still pretty tasty, this is a good place.
Anxiety induced questions I had before arriving that may help you:
Can I make a reservation - No, but you can order online to go.
Will it be packed on a Saturday morning - It wasn't too bad. It didn't seem like people really had to wait as I saw them coming in for a table. Parking is limited on the street, but there is a garage that I believe is free nearby.
Should I make time to walk around after eating - Yes! We are from out of town and wanted to see the little square a bit. We walked to the library at the end of the street, and there happened to be a farmers market with music...
