Verve Coffee Roasters — Restaurant in Santa Cruz

I’m A bit of a Coffee, snob, and like my beans fresh. I ordered some beans from Verve and although I live just a few towns away, I opted to have my beans delivered. They arrived quickly ….just a couple of days after ordering. Excellent service And kept me notified every step of the way . However, I’m quite disappointed as the beans are definitely not fresh. I use the bloom method of brewing and there is no bloom With these beans. Additionally, I ordered a dark roast and these beans are more of a light medium roast… But that part’s OK. What I really count on is freshness, and these beans were old… Been sitting on the shelf for a while? Why would they send a new customer old beans? Well, at the same time, I tried another coffee roaster in the area. I was a bit disgruntled with them at first because their beans took a while a few days a week to arrive. But oh my, their beans are very fresh…..bloom nicely and excellent flavor. So needless to say, in spite of their excellent service, I will not be returning to Verve. Nice place to duck in out of the rain. Warm up, dry off & get cozy. This is a great location on the Westside of Santa Cruz. So convenient to grab a cup to go or stay in & enjoy with WiFi

I had a cup of the drip coffee. I have had breakfast toasts here before that were very good.

Everything seems to be handcrafted, fresh roasted, fresh ingredients.

The decor is clean and modern on the upscale side of coffee shops. The staff is friendly and the products are tasteful & nicely designed.

This is a classic cortado, in a Gibraltar glass. This is the third consecutive day that I have had the pleasure of imbibing this blissful drink early in the AM. This is, as might be said, “a drink that justifies the beans,” prepared for me by a very thoughtful and able young woman, fortunately for me, she has been at the helm of the contraption that expels this amazing elixir and places the final touches, a heart of foam on top all three days.
