My sister and brother in- law had there 60th wedding anniversary here at Maggies Pub. They have a very big banquet hall in the rear of the restaurant including a bar with danceing area for your party. The food is fantastically delicious on a serve yourself basis, banquet style set up. Nice menu to choose from and frendly service with a smile. They even have someone keeping your tables cleared while you continue to enjoy yourself so no cludder build up, I liked that aspect. Its up to you whether or not its open bar or BYOB and security is extra but you have to pay for security services, well almost everywhere now days right?. Bathrooms available right in the banquet area nice and clean with wheel chair accessibility. So why 4 stars you ask. Well to me a banquet hall should have at least a little character, I mean a pretty coat of paint, pictures or some kind of wall decorations not just a dull white wash large room. Of course you will decorate tables to your likeing but the back ground should still be appealing too.Well just my opinion, I guess I just like to see a beautiful room when I walk in so as to add more beauty with my decorations ideas for my party. Like a painter, start with a beautiful backdrop. So my suggestion Maggie's add a little ambiance to that room you might just find you are renting that space out more often. Might I mention, there in the other half of Maggie's Pub you will find a bar restaurant, very nice too. Happy eating and drink...
Read moreExtremely interesting place. I visited for my second time last night, no reservation or anything... All the tables had reserved signs on them, but the hostess immediately walked us over to one and pulled the sign off to seat us... Why do all the tables have reserved signs if they are not really reserved?
So, visiting an Irish Pub, Catholic green, on a Friday during Lent, and the specials are steak and lobster, teriyaki chicken, and sweet and sour chicken??? What is an Irish pub serving Asian food for in the first place much less as "specials"? What kind of Irish are they?
We ordered the "Sherlock Holmes" because all the dishes are named after British figures. Again Interesting. Anyway, that is Fish and Chips (or fries for Americans). Eventually, the food came out and have to say that is was the completely tasteless, no taste whatsoever. I had to smother it in Cocktail sauce to have any to taste. It had the texture of cod and nothing else. Now I love fries, er chips, and will oft enjoy 3 baskets at Red Robin, we didn't even finish eating our chips they were so bland.
I cannot see ever returning. I think I will go to the Olde Ship in Fullerton when I feel like food from the British Isles.
Service was not any better. My water glass didn't get refilled until after we were done eating and ready to go. I don't really have much need for the waitress, take the order bring the food, not that hard. It is not like we had any...
Read moreI was invited to Maggie’s Pub by a friend and cannot return due to 2 reasons: (1) The food, and (2) The manager present today 09-27-24 at 4pm-5pm.
The service was fine, altho’ I had to ask for the server’s full attention when asking to see the manager. Still, I tipped her 20%+ since the problem was the food, not her service.
The problem was only the food, until the manager took 7 minutes to come see me; and, when we were through talking, he added a second problem to the situation: his mishandling of my issue with the food.
I had their Cobb salad, which had no chicken, no cheese, and perhaps a dozen bacon bits (basically, a lettuce salad). I talked with the manager, reading the Cobb’s description on their menu, which included chicken and cheese. He said he would mention the problem to the chef (did he?), charged me $20 for lettuce (with the dozen bacon bits), and that was his fix.
I would have returned to try their 1-pound prime rib, but cannot give them further business when a manager doesn’t ask “How can I make this right?” and charges me $20 for lettuce.
I did not argue with this manager, as I make my point without a scene, especially since I did not want to upset the friend who invited me. Also, I don’t consider myself unreasonable, since the last time I was disappointed in a restaurant was 20 years ago when I returned a steak that was visibly half fat...
