Yesterday I had the pleasure of indulging in the ultimate feast at Lotus Dim Sum Dumpling House in Santa Monica. The menu was extensive and I didn’t know where to start… however I didn’t need to worry because EVERYTHING was delicious 😋 It had traditional flavors with a modern twist. I tried the chicken, pork, and shrimp dumplings, plus their bao buns which were magnifíque 🫶🏽 Their orange chicken was real chicken and not “nuggets” with a lil kick at the end 🔥 I started off with the hot & sour soup because it’s an easy test for how good the restaurant is & theirs did not disappoint. Here are a few other notable dishes/notes:
Cucumber Salad 🥒: Great pairing with all the dishes, yet yummy on its own. It’s crunchy, fresh, and comes in generous sizes of cucumber. Sauce wasn’t overpowering. Love the sweet red bell peppers - adds an additional crunch but sweet.
Hot & sour soup 🥵 some restaurants are stingy with the soup content (tofu), but not here. You get nice chunks of tofu, plus it was the perfect combo of hot & sour.
Dumpling 🥟: Loved the rice paper on these! The shrimp and scallop combo was a nice texture moment.
Overall, I was happy with the dishes, service, and perfect people-watching positioning (it’s right on Wilshire Blvd. - you can’t miss it)! I would highly recommend going during lunch so you can walk off everything you are; you’ll...
Read moreWhat an amazing place!!! Only the second week and I got to try the spicy chicken with zucchini what a delicious and perfectly portion plate of yummy Ness this was!
The menu features a ton of different dumpling options and then is clearly the best reason to come here my next trip will be to come by and try out their dim sum menu which is tremendous!
The staff is incredibly professional very well dressed and extremely friendly I felt welcome the second I walked in and everybody was a lot of fun too!
But the bar is magnificent featuring a half moon shape seating 17 people and even two seats for people in wheelchairs you have no shortage of options for entertainment for there is a screen in every direction to watch but, if you want something a little more quieter the main dining room which is splitting the two sections offer is a lot of cozy and private seating so you feel like you’re almost dining in your own private restaurant!
I couldn’t believe how delicious the food was the chicken was perfectly tender and the dish was customizable so it came with a neutral flavor which allowed me to add as much space as I wanted… Which I did and as many now I like stuff so spicy it melts the plate but I eat it all and wish I could have more lol but I’m on a diet.
But if you wanna be on a try it diet come by this soon to be Santa...
Read moreI drove out to Downtown Santa Monica and made day out of it because it's a little over an hour drive due to traffic. One of the reason of me coming out this way is because of Lotus Dim Sum Dumpling House. I had this on my list to go to because I keep seeing it all over the place. It was calling for me. I have always told a friend of mine that you need to drive out of OC for dim sum because it taste way better and they have more options to choose from. but you know. some people don't like to listen to me.
To all my OC people...do you agree that driving out of OC for dim sum is better?
After eating so much delicious steamed dumplings and more, I had to take a walk...more like walk it off by heading towards the Santa Monica Pier.
So much to choose from and not enough of me to try it all. It was really hard to narrow down what to get from each categories. My favorite so far is the Szechuan Eggplant. Goes perfectly with rice. I know it's not a dumpling but it is still good choice to get. The chicken feet is delicious!!! It's huge too. My mom and sister would love eating that all to themselves. My plus one doesn't like it so all mine it is. Hargow is a must for me. I like it more than siu mai.
They also have a bar so don't forget to sip it up. But don't drink too much. You still need to be able to walk to the...
