Mr.Charlie's — Restaurant in Santa Monica

The good news is that - except for the fries (you should order the "Chucks Tots" instead) - this food is EVEN BETTER THAN MCDONALDS. Their plant version of the Big Mac (called "Mr Chuck") is better than any Big Mac I've ever had and my friend said his sausage with egg mc mufffin (called "Mr Muffin Deluxe") was great. The bad news - it costs TWICE AS MUCH. Mr Chuck is $12 (you can get 2 Big Macs for $10) and the "Mr Muffin Deluxe" was $7 (you can get 2 Sausage with egg McMuffins for $6). Even if it was the best burger in the world I'd go for the less expensive one. Also, when I signed up on the app linked to this restaurant ("Local By Toast") the app said there's a special "by 1 get 1 free" for the "Mr Muffin Deluxe". The people at the restaurant never mentioned that. The other bad news - this location has no nearby parking. Supposedly, you can't park across the street at the Brentwood Mart" parking and street parking is scarce. I had to drive around for 15 minutes until I found a spot on the street 2...

This is the second Mr.Charlie’s that I’ve been to, and I loved this visit as much as my first! It’s a great spot for fast food style vegan food. There’s some seating in the front overlooking 26th Street that’s great for people-watching.

The food is great, but plan to spend a bit more than you would at a regular, dumpy fast food place. I got the chicken sandwich with fries. I also got some of the chicken nuggets and they’re the only plant-based nuggets I’ve ever had that perfectly mimic the unique breading of McDonalds’ McNuggets.

Parking is just street parking, so give yourself some time to find a spot. There are metered spots along 26th, but I was able to easily find parking on one of the side streets.

There was plenty of seating for the number of customers. It’s a large interior space, though, and I think they should use some of it better. Much of it is empty, so additional seating could be added if needed.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent visit. Upon my arrival on August 27, 2025, at approximately 4:47 PM, I found the music to be quite loud. When I attempted to ask the cashier a question, he turned away to assist another customer who requested a specific song, even while I was speaking to him. The other customer also seemed to recognize the unprofessional nature of his actions and offered an apology. At that point, I simply placed my order on the self-service screen, collected my food, and left. This was an unpleasant experience, and I regret to say that I will not be patronizing your establishment again, as I feel that as a customers I was not treated fairly or respectfully.
