The Counter — Restaurant in Santa Monica

I came across this location for The Counter burger chain while walking around on Ocean Park Boulevard in Santa Monica, and I'm pleased to say that it turned out to be a great find!

It was very clean inside and had a nice hip sort of diner style to it, with bar stool seating around the counter as well as table seating. The service was quick and friendly, and it was nice being able to just get your order taken right then and there from the server at the counter. I don't normally go to these sorts of places, but this place felt really hip and modern in concept. I also love that they have a rewards program!

They have burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes, as well as a form that you can use to design your own burgers. I decided to get the Impossible Burger this time, which they were prominently advertising everywhere, and I love eating meatless burgers! I'm happy to say that I wasn't disappointed!! It was juicy and delicious, and I loved the fresh avocados and other toppings inside of it!

The only complaints I would have would be that the burger was a bit hard to eat, and fell apart quite easily, but I don't mind since it was so delicious! It is also a bit pricey for hamburgers, but they are all very fresh and have a lot of fresh toppings inside of them, so I understand the premium.

The service is so prompt and friendly. Water is constantly checked and refilled. Full of energy and service quality.

My Juicy Lucy burger is really good. The cheese and sauce is in between the beef patties. When you bite the first time, the sauce and cheese burst out from the other side of burger. It is kinda messy yet fun. Burger is juicy, and for me, the sauce is a bit too salty that belongs to heavy flavor category and water is definitely needed.

Fried onion rings are think and easy to eat. It is thin like shoelaces, you’d better eat it when it is hot and crispy.

I like this place, tiny and full of friendliness. Young people with good smiles, attitude and most of all, outstanding service quality that makes people want to come again.

The only minor drawback is not about service or food but IT. The payment system on the table does not work. We go with traditional bill and credit card signature...

First experience at The Counter yesterday and I am sad to say I will not be coming back. I am leaving two stars because the staff was great but the food was sub par.

1st off this was one of the most expensive burger and fries I have ever had, even compared to top end bars and restaurants I think this takes the cake for price.

2nd, the meat was so bland. I do not think they season their patties at all. It was a bigger juicer bubba burger. I will say the sauces were pretty good and some of the toppings. But our patties were pretty flavorless and served kind of cold. The bun was nothing to rave about either.

I wish I could go back and take that money to Umami Burger or The Misfit, both serving substantially better burgers for the same of less price, My GF and I left wondering why we didn't just...
