Casino Beach Bar & Grille — Restaurant in Santa Rosa Island

First of all, the place has a very nice atmosphere. We ordered a round of Bushwackers and they were some of the best we had tasted. A few of us got the Bushwacker with a peanut butter whiskey floater, that added a flavorful kick to the drink.

I ordered the coconut shrimp. The menu indicated that it came with lime rice and Caribbean slaw. Not wanting rice, I asked to substitute fries for the rice. Others in our party ordered the same dish but asked to substitute red beans and rice for the lime rice. Another person in our party order the Casino Beach burger.

The waiter returned a short time later and said that with the coconut shrimp plate, no substations are allowed. I added a side of fries to my dinner. I always wonder why restaurants come up with arbitrary rules like no substations. I could understand a bit of an up charge, some sides are more expensive than others, so that makes sense.

The food arrived. The Casino burger looked great! Bacon, cheese and a flavorful relish. The menu also said it had avocado. This is where we had a bit of a laugh. Yes, there was avocado. Not a slice or a a healthy dab. It was about 1/4 of a teaspoon smeared on about one square inch of the bun. But it did have avocado if you looked closely enough.

The coconut shrimp was a major disappointment. It gave all the appearances of being straight from the bag of frozen coconut shrimp to the fryer. The Caribbean slaw was tasty, but nothing to write home about. I didn’t eat the rice. However, the fries were unique and tasty.

It sure if we will return or not. We loved the atmosphere but the food quality was as a whole,e sub par for the prices. If we d return, we’ll stick to the fries and bushwackers and then head to flounders...

I’ve never had such an unprofessional and disrespectful experience at a restaurant, we been here before many times and spent hundreds of dollars . First of all, we were charged without ever being shown the check. We simply asked to review what we were paying for before signing, which is completely reasonable. Instead of cooperating, the staff tried to accuse us of having "too much to drink" and claimed we were behaving badly a complete lie and extremely insulting. To make matters worse, they added an 18% tip without informing us, and no one mentioned this policy at any point. When we tried to calmly explain that we just wanted to see the bill before signing, the manager was incredibly rude and dismissive. if you have cameras please check them and see we were polite and composed the whole time. Shockingly, they called the police on us simply for wanting to see what we were being charged for! Thankfully, the police sided with us and confirmed that we had every right to ask for a bill before paying or signing. This place operates in a completely unacceptable way — with no transparency, no respect, and very shady practices. I would not recommend it to anyone.
