This place is PERFECT for Pensacola which translates to âgood is good enoughâ. Aside from the beach and rum drinks, this isnât âtikiâ. Packed with kids that Iâd suspect most of which werenât even remotely of-age and pounding pop/club music which is a South Beach vibe. Young, loud, and drunk. NOT âtikiâ which is mellow and relaxing serving drinks with fresh juices as-in mixology, not blenders. Partyinâ partyinâ HEY!! Hard pass.
Additional clarification after Owner's snarky advertisement and lack of reading comprehension:
FACT: It was Spring Break FOR HIGH SCHOOLS and while I didn't check ID's, I feel fairly confident in my "SUSPICION". Given that I was born and raised there and know how VERY EASY underage drinking was and that now PBeach is a MAJOR tourist draw (I've seen the 'visit PB' ads all across this country) with SIX TIMES the bars AND two liquor stores, well...I'll just apply logic here. ALSO, when we're on PB, we're visiting family whom are GENERATIONS deep on that beach and if the 19-year old nieces and nephews confirm that they and their friends go here and get their drink on, well....more logic. BUT, I understand that I can not prove my "Suspicion" nor can you prove against as TWO stings might cover TWO weekends. And then what? Doesn't matter, that wasn't the point.
"Tiki garden": nearly fell down laughing. Those are garnishes that every single bar in the world uses and they have to be fresh as they look, smell, and taste absolutely wretched when they're not.
I said "this isn't Tiki" and that was my point. It isn't. Just because you've bogarted the word as most southern beach bars do, it isn't one (But, that's like today's "country music". It absolutely is not). FACT: There is minimal to zero use of a blender in a PROPER "Tiki" bar. You'll not find a Bushwacker at ANY "proper" tiki bar, and very rarely Pina Coladas or Daiquiris and if you do, they're mixed drinks, not blended. FACT: Then, there's the whole avenue of using the proper blender (immersion/spindle) and the proper ice (nuggets/cracked) for proper tiki drinks. Slushy style absolutely is not.
FACT: This is my thing. I travel the world going to PROPER tiki bars. My review is for people in that world to know in advance what this place IS NOT. The fact that land-locked middle-Americans come here and just have the best time ever changes nothing. Good for you for successfully capitalizing on that quality of tourism but if you look up 'Sunken Harbor', 'Golden Tiki', 'False Idol', and the globally recognized tiki standard, 'Mai Kai' in Ft Lauderdale, you'll see that THOSE are "Tiki Bars", and this IS NOT. No slushies, no pop music, no electronic music, no drunk youngsters.
PROPER TIKI is mellow vibes, properly mixed and balanced cocktails each utilizing more ingredients per than this bar even has (Falernum, Orgeat, Fassionola, Dry Curaçao, Campari, Green Chartreuse, etc....), and having DOZENS of various Rhums yet NEVER including Bacardi, Malibu, Sailor Jerry, nor Kraken.
FACT: This isn't "tiki". It's THAT simple and is exactly...

Read moreI had done my research for a Tiki Bar in Pensacola and was happy to find The Sneaky Tiki. It's a bit hidden but if you know what you are looking for it's pretty easy to find and accessible. We were lucky enough to arrive on a day that the owner J.J. was working and got first class service. We ordered the refillable travel mug and it was well worth the money. It's $30 to start for a signature drink and then $9 for well double refills for the lifetime of your mug when you return. We ordered a couple other signature drinks on the side and made the mistake of not requesting the brand of whiskey we desired and the owner happily made us a new one . The vibe and space is beautiful for a casual night out and a beautiful sunset. We met some super cool people and are looking forward to heading back the next time we are in Pensacola. Thanks J.J and Peyton for a wonderful experience! Spring & Quinn...
