2nd Swing- Bangin Shrimp, still amazing! We got a lb of the Peel & Eat, they were good. Menu says $28, they charge $29, I’m not complaining bc there was plenty. Lot of season flavor and not spicy. Not the spice flavor I was looking for but nothing to complain about, just nothing for me to rage about (nor anyone else that ate them with me.) I said I’d be cautious about what I’d order the 2nd time around & I was extremely cautious to the point that for the price, I wasn’t going to jump too quick. I’ll research what people really descriptively rage about and then check that out.

For now, I’d play it safe & get the sidewinder fries! Super cool cut and the taste was great…Except they were cold. 🤦🏻‍♂️ So, I asked if the person who responded to this review. “-Rena” The waitress laughed and said no idea who that is. I explained they responded to the review & she said must be corporate. 🤷🏻‍♂️ So I told her the fries were good but I’d like to try them fresh. She was was very pleasant about it and in 5 minutes brought me some that were burn your mouth Hot! As we watched the sunset, it was a good send off for the night before an eventful day tomorrow.

Again, nothing I wouldn’t return to try again but I won’t get the Penne Shrimp, not the peel & eat at that price, nor the grouper as was mentioned below… but sidewinder fries and Bangin shrimp are good… I’ll probably just stick to the banging shrimp.

Update 11/02/23 🔝

I’m not saying the food & service CANT be great, I’m just saying that this night, it wasn’t great. I believe it was just a mishap in the kitchen & maybe just poor choice of food. It did take us 45 minutes to get the food the first time but our waitress did stay on top of checking on us & making sure to tell us she was checking on the delay. I understand, this sorta thing happens. If you like a Cajun style or Louisiana style to your food, I’m betting that it was top notch. I’ll definitely try it again and cautiously choose my meal next time. I’d have them hold the sausage overload in the penne pasta and hold the Cajun style sauce on the blackened Grouper fish. You may ask to try whatever sauce they are going to pour on top of something if you haven’t experienced it.

The Bangin Shrimp on the other hand, 5 ⭐️ hands down! It was fantastic and I’d make a meal off of it if there was an option. It would’ve been cheaper to order 4 of them for sure.

As for the atmosphere, it was very nice outside. The fires are great & the noise is low! I’d go back with a good book and my dog & just eat Bang Bang Shrimp...

This was our last dinner in Pensacola before we left the next morning. We saved this place for last we planned all the restaurants we would try while on vacation. First off I’d like to say this place has the BEST atmosphere of all the places we ate during our stay. Great open atmosphere with beautiful views of the sound. There were games to play to pass the time while we waited for our table like cornhole and a large open air bar to enjoy a beverage as well. The service was excellent. Staff was friendly and attentive. The food? Well it wasn’t what we had hoped it would be. The portions were great and everything was fresh. The problem we had was how bland everything tasted. For starters we all had a cup of gumbo. Honestly the most tasteless gumbo I have ever eaten. I was the only one who didn’t get a cup. My wife and teenage sons complained first and I thought they were being dramatic. I tasted a bite from my wife’s cup and they were correct. Bland is the best I can say. Even the sausage was bland. We thought maybe it’s just the recipe they used as some people may not like a spicy gumbo. Then came our main course. I will say that my dish was very good. I had the Penne cola shrimp pasta. With sun roasted tomatoes and Parmesan cheese you really can’t go wrong. My wife had the blackened shrimp tacos. My sons had the grilled fish tacos and the fish and chips my daughter had the steak tacos. They all complained about how bland there’s were. I tried a piece of fried fish from my sons plate and thought surely a piece of fried fish can’t be bland….but it was! I tasted no seasoning at all. The fish itself was alright but the meal was tasteless. My wife’s was ok but needed more seasoning same with my daughters. Overall just ok. Really wanted the food food to knock our socks off being it was the last day and we were keeping tabs of our favorite restaurants. Conclusion; 1) Great atmosphere 2) Great service 3) Mediocre meal. I’d recommend seasoning the food a little more and it would be the...

I hate to leave a bad review of a restaurant however the last couple experiences here have been awful. The food was hardly edible however for the price you felt as if you needed to eat something. The shrimp Po Boys were not worth the calories. The shrimp were way over cooked and breaded. The sandwich was dressed as if lettuce and tomato were not available but in such a way that they had less toppings than a depression time taco bell taco. My wife's ordered a chicken sandwich without guacamole and the the sandwich came with guacamole on it she really dislikes guacamole and was not going to eat the sandwich. I politely asked a waitress that we had ordered the sandwich without guacamole and she immediately said that the kitchen must not have been paying attention. She said let me get you a new one, everyone was done eating what they could and the sandwich was about to come out so we just asked for it to go. In my wildest dreams I would not have assumed they would have charged her for the sandwich since everyone else had eaten already. We received our bill and I noticed the sandwich was on the bill I politely told the waitress that I was going to pay the bill with no issues but the sandwich really should have been taken off of the bill. She immediately changed her attitude and stated that if we were taking it with us then we needed to be charged for it. I explained to her that she was just trying to be polite as opposed to canceling the order completely. This place years ago used to be a great go to and I'm hoping they were just having a bad days the last couple of times we've been in there. The restaurant was not busy by any means. I want to give this place five stars however I must be truthful to other patrons of my experience. I wish them success in the future however, we will not be revisiting this...

The service was excellent from the moment we arrived. We were greeted by two smiling hostesses and promptly escorted to our seat. Then we were served by Riley, who was helpful with suggestions, very attentive and had an awesome attitude. The food, however, was a tremendous disappointment. We had read reviews about how great the Bangin Shrimp were, so we ordered some. They arrived quickly but looked and tasted as if they had been cooked earlier and warmed up with a quick flash fry once we ordered. They were greasy and very salty with a heavy breading. My wife ordered the shrimp po-boy. Unfortunately, it was just like the appetizer, but without the Bangin sauce. It was served on a roll that would have probably been tasty had it been toasted, but instead was served cold, with very little lettuce and sauce. She chose the Sidewinder Fries as her side, which were plentiful but not hot at all. I ordered the Fish and Chips. The fish was, again, heavily breaded and not flavorful at all. Instead of a lite, white fish, they use mullet, which has a strong, almost gamey taste. The cole slaw was decent but not cold at all, which always makes me a bit nervous. Items with mayonnaise should not be served room temperature. The slaw clearly was. I had an order of the fries, too, which were also served at room temperature. I would not have been satisfied with my meal at any price, but the $84 tab was a final blow. One appetizer, 2 meals, one frozen drink and a Coke was over $100 with tip! We will definitely not return unless it is to enjoy the drinks, atmosphere and friendly service. As for the food, Captain D's blows them out of the water, IMHO!

Embark on a culinary odyssey with Johnleefrom1983 at Red Fish Blue Fish, nestled along the shores of picturesque Pensacola Beach. Eager to celebrate a special occasion, my wife and I ventured forth, hopeful for a seafood experience to remember. Upon arrival, the scene was set with a perfect coastal ambiance - a salty breeze and warm hospitality greeted us, promising a delightful dining journey. Yet, as we delved into our meals, our hopes were dashed by a series of disappointments. Optimistically, I selected the fish and chips, envisioning a plate of golden perfection. However, what arrived fell far short of expectations. The mullet, fried to an unappetizing crisp, lacked the fresh flavor one would expect from a coastal catch. Accompanied by dry cabbage, the dish left much to be desired. Meanwhile, my wife ventured into the realm of specials, choosing a pasta dish with grouper and shrimp. Sadly, the promised culinary delight was marred by a significant delay in its arrival, only making its debut moments before the kitchen's final call. The shrimp, overcooked and tough, failed to impress. Surveying the remnants of our meal, a sense of disappointment settled in. While the prices were reasonable, they felt unjustified in light of the lackluster fare before us. In conclusion, while Red Fish Blue Fish boasts a charming ambiance and welcoming staff, our dining experience left much to be desired. For those seeking seafood excellence in Pensacola Beach, we advise caution. With an overall experience rating of 1 out of 10, this establishment may not be the culinary sanctuary you seek.

Such a fun place to eat! Our waitress was full of great suggestions for each of us from food to the drink pairings. One of us had the redfish redfish and oh my word, the most delightful delicate sauce with the slightest bit of smoky heat at the end! I could literally eat this every day the rest of my life. Another got the backyard burger and the patty was *thisclose* to being bigger than my head. I got the fish tacos, with the fish fried. I didn't think to ask if I could have the plate fixed with all all 3 styles (fried, grilled and blackened), but I will just about bet I could have. Anyway, it was super lightly breaded with little seasoning so the fish was the actual star, perfectly fried so it was crispy on the outside and fish super tender and flaky on the inside. Under the fish was housemade coleslaw which was perfectly balanced and not dripping wet with dressing. On top of everything was a delightful creamy Cajun sauce expertly drizzled on. On the side came some housemade tortilla chips and Pico, but a childhood friend (from Mexico) would have called it "fresh tomato salad". Super light and refreshing! The waitress suggested the Tropical Storm to accompany my tacos and tropical it was! Pineapple, orange and I definitely believe I tasted guava, and whatever alcohol was mixed in. Totally delicious and was THE perfect drink with the tacos. Go here again? You darn betcha! Oh, bring the kids & furbabies too! The entire family is welcome here! And the kiddos just might enjoy the wall art made from cut-up license plates from all over the place.
