Denny's — Restaurant in Santa Rosa

Yesterday was the third time I have been to this location and left underwhelmed by my meals. The first time was just a few months ago, I came in with two friends a little before 10pm and there was hardly anyone else there.

We were seated promptly and our orders taken right away. We didn't get our drinks for about twenty minutes, which was understandable because there was only one waitress. However after another fifteen minutes we got an emergency call from a family member and had to leave.

We told the waitress who informed us our meals were done, we asked for them to be boxed. She brought us our to go bags with someone else's order, we told her as much before she left our table so she told us she would have the kitchen remake them. I left with one of my friends but we gave the other our money to pay, planning to meet up shortly to eat after checking on my family member.

No more than forty-five minutes later, our friend brought the corrected food to us at my home. Our pancakes were burnt black on each bottom side and scrambled eggs were still running. I figured the night had been hectic for the shorted staff and didn't think too much of it.

The second visit was about two weeks later, early on a Saturday morning. I had dropped off my car to the shop and was treating another friend who was giving me a ride to work. When we were seated we were one of two groups there, there were two servers, and I had an hour and fifty minutes to get to work. We ordered our drinks and had them at the table within five minutes. We ordered our food as soon as the drinks were on the table.

The young man who gave us our drinks was polite but obviously still learning, he had the older server hovering while he helped us. Neither one came by to offer us refills in the hour and twenty minutes we waited. We didn't notice how long it had been of a wait until the young man came back and asked us what order we were waiting on. We told him and asked him to box it. By the time we left, there had been at least two other parties who had been served and left. Again, I wrote it off as a short staff and someone still learning.

The last time was the previous night. I was with a party of five, around 9pm, and there were four other smaller parties there. Again, there was one waitress. She seated us and was polite despite how much she was juggling. She got us our drinks and took our orders right away, she was great.

While we were waiting for our food a gentleman began to pester her. From what we could gather, he was upset because even though he told her he had no money he wanted to be served. She repeatedly reminded him of the fact and that all he could have is water. He raised his voice and tried to make a scene, something she later expressed he did on a weekly basis. No other staff came to help her, or cover her tables while this was going on. There were at least three men in the kitchen and none tried to assist her. The problem customer was only assuaged when another man gave him his own water.

After he was calmed, we were brought our food. My order was wrong but not by much so I let it go. One of our orders wasn't made at all so we had to wait for it. While we waited, the other man who gave the water decided to get up and leave without paying. At that point another female employee, a managet we thought, had come in and when our server brought all of the drama to her attention, she didn't sound like she cared at all or believed her. Despite the mistakes, my party and I left her what we could in tips and tried looking for the man in the parking lot. While we couldn't help her, we hope this doesn't happen again. We hope management will try to get more than one server at a time to improve service for other customers, but for now I think I'm done with...

Food was good and server was very nice. They seemed a little under staffed for how busy it was so the food took longer than usual. The manager was horrible though. She seemed to not even want to be at work, very slow, no acknowledgement to her customers. I was walking to the front to pay, and she made eye contact with me as she walked new customers to their table, which is fine, but no "Someone will be with you shortly" or "I'll be right back to take your payment" nothing. Another guy waiting to pay was right behind me too. She took several minutes to come back, meanwhile another waiter walked by and didn't acknowledge us either or say that someone will be with us shortly. Finally, I saw the manager walking towards us, very slowly and by this time there were four of us either waiting to pay or be seated. Took my receipt, didn't ask how my food was, just took my payment and gave me a receipt. I told her I wanted to leave a tip, she said too late, I already charged it, don't worry I'll tell her. I couldn't believe her! So I went back to my waitress who was excellent and gave her the cash I had on me, $2. I've never left such a small tip in my life, felt embarrassed but explained what her manager did. She obviously brushed it off and said don't worry about it, but it's sad how this manager doesn't seem to really care for her customers, fellow co-workers or her...

Worst experience ever at a Dennys.We came in around 11pm. I walked in with my bf and we stood there waiting to get seated and the waitress was standing there talking to a friend while we were waiting to get seated and she just pretended we weren’t there and continued talking to her friend. Then she seemed annoyed when she finally acknowledged us and told her friend to wait a second while she seated us. Then when we sat down to order our drinks we asked for one coffee and one sprite and she brought us two coffees instead. She seemed like she wasn’t paying attention to what she was doing and I did not like that. She automatically wanted to take our order as well and we had barely started to look at our menus. She also was very abrupt when we were in the middle of ordering. Before we were done asking for something she would say okay and it was rude because we were in the middle of ordering. The only vegetarian options are a veggie omelette or a veggie patty burger. Wish they had more vegetarian options. Food was delicious, they forgot to put strawberries and bananas on my pancakes but other than that...
